Got on the water about 10:00 a.m., clear skies with a light s.w. breeze. Daytime high was 84 degrees. The surface temperature was 70 degrees.
The day was productive overall, however it was an on/off day typical of Amber with periods of fast action and then a couple of hours of nothing, then back to action. Caught and released 20+ rainbows in the 17"-18" range. Dennis landed a couple 20" & 21" fish.
The fish were at all levels in the lake from 5' to the bottom. The most productive pattern was a red beadhead olive body Carey. Later in the afternoon a wine colored leech pattern worked.
Most of the fish appeared to be quite healthy and had a good deal of energy. It is my belief that Amber will produce nicely this fall.
