Arrived at the lake around 8:30 a.m. and started getting strikes immediately. The surface temperature was 75 degrees with some algae in the water. Very little surface action and fish were at all levels in the lake. The air temperature was 80-85 degrees at the peak hot period of the day.
Started fishing with a black wooly-leech and kept it on all day. I left about 2:00 p.m. and had landed about 12 fish all ranging between 18"-20". Dennis stayed about another 4 hours and later told me that the activity maintained through out the entire afternoon. His total catch for the day was around 35 fish.
We did notice a couple of fish that were relatively weak and skinny, but the majority of them were of good body mass and had good stamina. Considering that we have had some very hot weather for the last 4 weeks, the fish appear to be in good shape.
