This was my first visit to square lake. This is a small very weedy lake. It has 3 or 4 beaver huts and many small little islands like reverse mud puddles filled with mud not water. I don't think they would hold my weight but I used one to hold my portabote in place because the wind was blowing very hard and I had no motor or anchor. We fished with worms at the far end of the lake. My 5 yr old son caught 5 blue gill with a worm chunk weighted down by a split shot. I caught 9 small blue gill and 3 small bass. I caught one bass with a frog and two with Zara spooks. The largest bass was around 10 inches long and very thin. We fished from1230 pm until around 4 pm. This is a nice little lake more like a pond or a swamp. We saw a couple hawks and many colorful dragonfly's. This lake has one little dirt ramp that leads straight into weeds. I had to row through the weeds to get to open water. One other boat was trolling around the lake. I think they were just drinking and riding enjoying the sunshine and being away from it all.
