Reading about Muskie Guy's reliance on moon phase charts, I decided today would be a good time for some early morning topwater action. Had 4 muskie strikes on topwater baits, and finally boated my first topwater muskie ever. He hit it once and missed, sending my lure about 2 feet in the air in a huge splash. 15 feet later he came back and absolutely engulfed it; I saw the whole fish out of the water. Also happened to be my biggest muskie ever at 35". Took a couple poor pictures (I was by myself) and released him unharmed. Had another smaller one on but lost him.
