Had a great day at Silver. I returned to the area's where I had 2 follows earlier and worked them over again with a crankbait and a swimming bait call a Bulldawg. I nabbed a fish of 39 or 40 inches from about 6 feet of water out in front of Rubies resort. This was a really good fight and the fish did 2 good jumps. It was released after I cut the hook out of it's mouth. I generally push down my barbs on trebles, I recommend you do the same to speed up the release time. I was fortunate enough to run into Aaron, from this site, and his friend Noah. They took a few pictures for me and were both good guys. Thanks for your help fella's. As a side note, to the nice man who offered to weigh this fish, I don't weigh my fish with a hanging scale. Ask yourself if you would be healthy after someone stuck a hook under your jaw and suspended your entire body weight from it. Ouch, is what I say to that. Take a good estimate and release the fish to fight again. Good fishing you guys.

I wanted to add one additional piece of information about fishing for muskies. Try to be on the water during days when moonrise or moonset occurs during the daylight hours. In my opinion it's the best fishing of the month. I had my 2 fallows during the hour of moonrise (3:30pm) on this day of fishing, even on a pressured lake. I use Joe Buchers moon secrets to try and plan a day ahead of time. The best times to fish are when moonrise is close to sunset and moonset is close to sunrise. May 30 and 31st are going to be excellent evenings to fish any species, any lake. Get out there and catch and release a muskie or two!

Excellent report Scott. You are a valuable resource for our Muskie fishery here in Washington. In case you missed it, my report precedes yours. If you are still interested I would love to get out on Silver with you some afternoon, possible during a time you feel the moon will help things. We need a Featured Lake article for this lake and I feel that you could add a lot to the article. I still need to buy some gear for Muskies as well as a digital video camera for taking video shots. I'll let you know when I've got everything together.

Aaron; you are right, Scott is a valuable resource. He is not only successful and very, very educated about this predator, he STRONGLY supports Catch and Release, which is critical. But even more impressive? He and his wife drove 300 miles, 5 hours, on a Thursday night, to attend the 1st Muskies Inc. meeting, in Federal Way.
A tip of the hat to S. & S. !
