Fishing buddy, Mike L. and I launched the old bass tracker onto Spencer Lake for a bass try at about 8:00 AM. We fished hard but had no bass strikes. The only action came when a chunky 17 1/2 inch rainbow smacked my Rapala on the retrieve right next to the boat. Both Mike and I saw the trout chasing and hitting the lure before it hit. It was an exciting show to watch. Unfortunately, with 9 hooks to remove from the net and the trout, the trout passed away in the live well. She will be placed in the smoker tomorrow morning. Nice day on the lake, sunny and light winds early. And, only a couple trout fishermen on the lake plying their skills.
