Best spinners for trout?

I really enjoy casting Super Rooster Tails to the shore at Rufus Woods.
I've been using the Black, Red & Silver colors when I'm not Fly fishing with a wooly bugger or trout pellet fly.

i am gonna have to agree with fishing fool, I would not be caught dead without a kastmaster among my gear especially a red and gold body, hands down one of the better lures on the market. Im also a big beliver in rapalas especially the new x-raps.

I ended up picking up a kastmaster 1/4 oz chrome and orange. I tried it at a couple of times with no luck yet. I have seem other anglers catch trout with the kastmasters though. i also picked up a blue fox firetiger spinner. No bites yet either.

I like the Kastmaster silver lures. They have a nice weight to them, for casting. I smear some powerbait on the side, with a bit of worm trailing off of the hook.

There ya go! I had not come across these either. Look to be quite nice. The blade can sometimes be tough to turn with Rooster Tails, but this style should eliminate that problem. Thank you for this update.

I have had great luck with the Panther Martins in the 1/4oz as they have enough weight to cast and the blade turns easily. They have also been great for trolling in the spring time at our local lakes. Seem to be at the right depth and simple. You and the fish with just the simple spinner and light gear. Fire Tiger has been the most consistent. I did see the one with black, yellow and hair around the hook the other day at the store. It was all I could do to resist the purchase. Was trying to impress the wife with some self denial.

I have had good luck with 1/8-1/4 oz Chrome Kastmasters on a flouro leader with a ball bearing swivel. Also, Panther Martins are a good bet. Color is dependent on water color and conditions. A small split shot helps me toss em a little further. The blade on a PM spins really well. The willow blades on roosters do take more effort to spin.

I picked up a dozen spinners from Joes. theres still a lot of Rooster Tails and Panther Martins at the Renton location for 40% off. Mepps and Blue fox are pretty much all gone. I was also able to pick up a pack of 3 1/4 oz kastmasters (gold, silver and silver blue) for 8 bucks at renton walmart. I bought the last package. Get them while you can!!!

I guess I'll go a bit against the grain here...
I tend to concentrate mostly on alpine and back-country lakes...and rooster tails seem to be the ticket for me when not using fly gear.

I typically use 1/8oz in more "natural" colors...
My favorite is black with black hackle and silver blade. Next would be the "mayfly" pattern with is black/tan with either a brass or silver blade. Black, brown, green, and orange are always with me.
Sad but true story--I probably own more 1/8oz rooster tails than any fishing shop you've ever been in...

I like panther martins, but without good swivels I seem to get a lot of line twist...and attaching a swivel often leads to less strikes in many of the lakes I enjoy. My only attempts trolling them have ended in disaster! They do cast better than rooster tails, though.

Last but not least you could try making your own.
Beads and blades are pretty cheap, and a good budget wire is from Malin...it's stainless leader wire used for fishing for critters like sharks and billfish. Somewhere around .024" seems to work well. Strong and easy to work with...and about $3 per ~40ft.
Sometimes you own creative patterns are all that will open those mouths of mature, tight-lipped trout.

im with curado, that black with three yellow or green spot panther martin with a gold blade is the best all around trout lure there is in my opinion
