Green/Duwamish Netting?

Post by HammerinHonkers » Wed Sep 04, 2013 2:50 pm

So, does anyone know if they are netting? And if so what the schedule is? I'm very curious as I've heard many different rumors. Thx

I've heard the nets are currently in below the 1st Ave. bridge (haven't seen them myself). Netting schedule is typically from noon Sundays through Noon Fridays. Don't know when they'll move upriver.

If they are, then it's not really stopping the fish. I've been on the river every morning this week, including this morning, around 6:30am-7:30am and there are schools of fish moving through.

I've seen loads of fish in there the last couple days. Somehow this ugly guy made it through the nets.

I hit the river today above the 599 bridge. Lots of fish but man they weren't biting anything. They looked like they had been in the river for a while. Quite a few dark kings rolling too.

The Muckleshoot tribal netting hotline is 1-800-347-4669

I just called it - you can actually understand the guy this year

Currently the schedule for Elliot Bay and the Duwamish is
Tuesday (09/03) noon to Friday (09/06) noon
but is closed upstream of the 1st Ave S bridge (which is supposed to mean no nets above the 1st Ave Bridge.

I've been fishing every morning this week and had no idea they were netting, haha. I was trying to figure out why it was so slow...

I've been landing a few kings each morning, but was perplexed why the pinks weren't around.

So they netting this week, are they netting all next week as well?

Sorry man - they only had the schedule thru Friday when I called yesterday, don't know when they update it. It is generally Sunday noon thru Friday noon though..

Sorry, can't blame the poor fishing on netting, it starts today. Hey Gringo, did you tell me they net all the way up to 112th?

In past years they have netted up to 112th. A couple years ago I saw a net up near I405 but I read that it was an illegal set and the WDFW was watching it to try and make a bust. The area from the power station to the Boeing bridge (the old turning basin) will be a maze of nets coming off each shoreline. A couple years ago I counted 47 nets from the Boeing bridge down river to just past the power station. It's a good thing they let some fish pass before they drop the nets or ther would be no fish returning..

Yeah hwy 99 is just up around the corner from 112th and they net up to 99. I just called the hotline and they start today up to the South Park bridge thru next Friday.
It think I remember a few years ago a reader board on the fence across from the launch with the net schedule written on it but don't recall seeing it when I was out yesterday.

Tug were moving a couple barges around yesterday. I wonder if those barges have to manouver around the nets?

Just for my understanding, Is there an all in one website that has schedules for netting throughout the PS?? Or is the hotline number that one to call?

The number I posted above is for the Muckleshoot tribe only. I do not know of any website (or phone #) that covers all of Puget Sound.
