yeah I caught the feb date back in early january, wrote it on the calendar, emailed my wife and buddies and said "I'M DOING THIS, I MISS IT EVERY TIME, THIS ONE I WILL NOT MISS" lol. I missed jan because we were out of town, March & April because I forgot. at least I got Feb in!

Another April razor clam dig proposed

OLYMPIA – State fishery managers are planning another morning razor-clam dig this month on Washington’s ocean beaches, as long as marine toxin tests show the clams are safe to eat.

As usual, the final word on beach openings will be announced once toxin test results are available, said Dan Ayres, coastal shellfish manager for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).

Proposed beach openings for upcoming digs, along with morning low tides, are:

April 21, Saturday (7:28 a.m., -0.3 feet): Long Beach, Twin Harbors only
April 22, Sunday (8:01 a.m., -0.4 feet): Long Beach and Twin Harbors only
April 23, Monday (8:35 a.m., -0.4 feet): Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis and Mocrocks
“We didn’t have enough harvest share left at Copalis and Mocrocks to be able to offer another weekend day of digging, but were able to offer one more Monday at those two beaches,” Ayres said.

Copalis Beach lies south of the Copalis River and includes Ocean Shores, Oyhut, Ocean City and Copalis. Mocrocks Beach is north of the Copalis River and includes Iron Springs, Roosevelt Beach, Seabrook, Pacific Beach and Moclips.

The dig is timed to coincide with morning low tides. No digging will be allowed after noon.

Under state law, diggers can take 15 razor clams per day, and are required to keep the first 15 they dig. Each digger's clams must be kept in a separate container.

Diggers need a valid 2012-13 fishing license to participate in the upcoming opening, since all 2011-12 licenses expired March 31. The exception is young people under age 15, who may fish for free.

Licensing options range from a three-day razor clam license to an annual combination fishing license, which can be purchased on WDFW's website (https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and from license vendors around the state.

Razor-clam dig approved for Oct. 27-30
OLYMPIA – The second razor-clam dig of the fall season will get under way on evening tides at four ocean beaches Saturday (Oct. 27).

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) approved the dig after marine toxin tests on all four beaches confirmed the clams are safe to eat.

Twin Harbors beach will open for digging after noon on four consecutive days, Oct. 27-30. Three other beaches – Long Beach, Copalis and Mocrocks – will open for digging Oct. 27-28 after noon each day.

Digging days and evening low tides for beaches scheduled to open are:

i would not be the least bit offended if someone wanted to ping this thread every time new dig dates were announced! I love digging but miss it too often because of schedule conflicts or 'didnt know'.

Beaches in Washington with razor clam fisheries include:

Long Beach, which extends from the Columbia River to Leadbetter Point.

Twin Harbors Beach, which extends from the mouth of Willapa Bay north to the south jetty at the mouth of Grays Harbor.

Copalis Beach, which extends from the Grays Harbor north jetty to the Copalis River, and includes the Copalis, Ocean Shores, Oyhut, Ocean City and Copalis areas.

Mocrocks Beach, which extends from the Copalis River to the southern boundary of the Quinault Reservation near the Moclips River, including Iron Springs, Roosevelt Beach, Seabrook, Pacific Beach and Moclips.

Kalaloch Beach, which extends from the South Beach Campground to Brown’s Point (just south of Beach Trail 3) in the Olympic National Park.

WDFW approves razor clam dig
starting Dec. 11 on favorable tides

OLYMPIA – Clam diggers can look forward to some of the best tides of the year during a six-day razor clam dig set to begin Tuesday (Dec. 11) at Twin Harbors, then expand to include openings at Long Beach, Mocrocks and Copalis beaches later in the week.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) approved the dig after marine toxin tests at all four beaches confirmed the clams are safe to eat.

No digging will be allowed at any of those beaches until after noon.

“The position of the moon in December always generates favorable tides for digging razor clams,” said Dan Ayres, WDFW coastal shellfish manager. “Unfortunately, the weather isn’t always as cooperative, so diggers should dress for cold, wet conditions.”

The dig at Twin Harbors will run six days, extending from Tuesday (Dec. 11) through Sunday (Dec. 16). The three other beaches will open for digging on the following schedule and evening low tides:

I went to last weekends dig at Roosevelt Beach, the waves were not letting us on the clams spots. Weather was horrible high winds with wind. Didn't see one clam.

my first dig we all limited so quickly and had so much fun that I was instantly hooked. every time I went back it got progressively worse lol. last dig was last feb and I think out of 2 of us we only pulled maybe 3 clams or something so I ended up giving them to a youngster lol.
