Running 20lb braid on my reels for sockeye
Running 20lb braid on my reels for sockeye
I'm thinking about switching to 20lb test braid on my Sockeye trolling rigs and I'm worried that it just won't hold in my Scotty releases. Any suggestions?
Re: Running 20lb braid on my reels for sockeye
That's what I have on mine and haven't had any problems. What I did do though was to set the line halfway back and put the release on the hardest setting. So far that hasn't given me any false release.

I use the little clips and don't have any issues but it does take a light touch with the no stretch line.

That is a good point Bodo. I forgot to mention that I also use the small clips.

Thanks guys, is it the small (Scotty) clips that you're using?

Yes, the Scotty clips are what I use.

Yep, yep, the little ones.

I further the plug for the small Scotty Release clips. I run 15lb braid for my Lake Washington rigs and have had no issues with using the small releases set at high tension. I also have used the large Scotty clips at the light tension setting with success.

I switched to braid on my salmon gear also. Does the line get twisted or wound up when trolling slow pretty deep?
Re: Running 20lb braid on my reels for sockeye
I have never had an issue with line twist Rac. Maybe I'm lucky but have been doing it along time.

I've been using braid for five years and I put it on small black clip just set in back have know problem.
