Unlocking Sprague Walleye
OK this is the second time out there in 2 weeks and have had my a$$ handed to me each time. What gives. I have fished in the past with OK success. If anyone has any pointers or secret tactics please share. Thanks in advance!!
RE:Unlocking Sprague Walleye
I am in the same boat. I tried Sprauge 3 times last year for Walleye to no advail. I'm no walleye expert but that lake makes me feel like a moron!

RE:Unlocking Sprague Walleye
I guess we're in this together, we've only managed one walleye during last year's fishing, haven't been there yet this year.

RE:Unlocking Sprague Walleye
Well I am no quiter so I will be out there again soon. I am glad that I am not the only one with the sprague jinks! If I figure this thing out I will post. If anyone else has input please post up. Sounds like more people than just me need help on this crazy lake.
RE:Unlocking Sprague Walleye
When fishing during the summer heat, the walleye are in the shallows. Try simply jigging or casting close to the shore. I also have real good luck with trolling red/blaze orange or something in that color range rattle traps. Also try the bright orange rapalas. When you troll, drag the baits on the bottom. There will be a few hangups but the walleye like it. Hopefully this helps, I'm just trying to get as many people as possible to fish sprague and have good success and maybe others will see it can be a great fishery so maybe, just maybe they won't kill it off this year! If not, get them while you can! Hope this helps

Thanks Mossy, I love that lake. This year it has my number though. I will give your suggestions a try. I hope they do not kill it off. Oh yeah, if anyone heads out there bring your carp bow. That lake has some real bruisers. We have shot many over 25lbs and one at 34lbs. Man that is fun when the bite is off.
