Advise on fishing Banks lake

Post by hiroshi » Sun Jun 09, 2013 11:26 am

I'm totally lost on where and what to use fishing Banks lake. I've fished both the south and north end of Banks trolling flies and don't even get a bite. Usually troll a black wolly bugger and sinking leaded line. Can anyone give me some pointers as to what I should be using and possibly where to fish Banks? I see pics of some pretty nice one coming out of this lake. I seem to do fine at Blue but, I would like to fish Banks more. Thanks for any advise... [blush]

If you want to catch trout by trolling a fly, go over the hill to Rufus Woods. Or you could change your gear for some soft plastics or a bottom bouncer.

When I fish Banks Lake I usually fish the coves ,inlets, and areas with some grasses. The big part of the lake is tough fishing. I usually fish from the shore side throwing Blue Foxes,or Mepps . It seems like the big open water yields me nada. I prefer fishing the smaller lakes in the area.

I fish Banks quite a bit but usually for Walleye or Bass. Bottom Bouncers work great with about 18" - 24" leadr with a Mustad worm hook and half a crawler run up the hook. have also used plastic worms for the Walleyes and occasionally a small shallow diving plug. For the bass, both largies and smallies, Plastics have been the way to go for me. I don't do trout of any kind at Banks but they are there. Seen some nice ones. Hope this helps

There's lots of small SMB in the "Punchbowl" next to the state park. But that's where a lot of people fish too, so those fish are heavily pressured. Just got back camping from there on Friday.
