Pic Heavy Big King Salmon
Sooooo went to vancouver island again for the ALL chinook trip and slaughtered the fish, limited the first day in a hour and 10 minutes with 6 chinook between 23-32 pounds, and that pretty much set the tone for the trip, we ended up landing 39 chinook in 4 days and losing at least 20 more. The fishin, was HOT and we came home with NOTHING under 20 pounds and some nice lingcod and snapper and halibut as well. BEcause my fishin spot is on the island and not in washington ill spare you the details and just post the pics for those of you who are bored and wanna see some giant hawgs!!
by the way, also gonna have an awesome video from the trip of big kings fighing crazy, workin on it now!

43lb Ling! The head on the thing probably couldn't fit in a 5 gallon bucket!

Re: Pic Heavy Big King Salmon
It's a testament to operating hatcheries using native brood stock. BC has at least a dozen hatcheries on Vancouver Island devoted solely to sport fishing and the supporting industries. One might think WDFW could read a few pages from the play book....... But no, let’s shut down the hatcheries we have and see if we can decimate what's left of the runs in the shortest time possible. Makes perfect sense, don’t you think?

Awesome job guys!!!! It just doesn't get any better than the fishing off the Island. Better in many respects than AK fishing! Gorgeous fish!!!!

Re: Pic Heavy Big King Salmon
thanks bigsky, ive always thought it would be interesting to know where the fish we catch on the island are headed, some are white chinook most likely headed to the frasier system, but its hard to tell on the others, especially the ones way offshore, but like Bodo said, the majority are most likely Canadian Fish because of their ability to maintain fisheries...

Fish-Freak23 wrote:Definitely envious after that vid the pics were stirring the pot but the vid brought it all together! Great job on slayin em! When I was younger we used to make the trip up to Bamfield every year to get some fishin in and it was king after king after king, just like that! then we would go fish bottomfish mid-day and back to trolling for salmon in the evening! Making memories that you won't forget. Way to go!
Thanks! Yep fishing can really be amazing up there, coming back to the dock with fish overflowing the icechest and fishbox!

Re: Pic Heavy Big King Salmon
Another trip, another success, filled our bag limit of 12 chinook, 18 lingcod and 6 halibut in the first 2 days, and catch and released the shoreline waters for huge, crazy king bites the last 2 days,
Check out this sweet video, got a takedown on camera, some big fish in the net, ect... enjoy! Be sure to put into 480p quality its a lot better that way
Below, My Buddy, My Dad and I with each of our biggest fish of the trip, low 30's on poundage

Re: Pic Heavy Big King Salmon
That is one productive trip!. How many years have you made that trip with dear old dad? Was it pretty much a hoochie show as far as lure go? Do you also participate in the buoy 10 fishery? Well documented video. Placing the good size Chnook inside the mouth of a very large Ling. Puts the size of ling in perspective.....really big. Did the ling go over 35lbs?
