Thanks Mike and Jerry for the kind words. I didn't mean to be complaining about paying for the licenses - they are reasonable enough and I can well afford to buy them. I am just thankful the WDFW has so many access areas. Besides a lifetime pass at my age --

You sound like my father-in-law. He was talking with a guy at the Game Dept (different state), and the employee told him he could get a lifetime pass. Didn't bat an eye and said, "Son, at my age a day pass might be longer." Have a good one! Better yet, catch a good one!

My grandfather will be 100 next month - his favorite thing to say is, "You know, most people my age are dead."

I was born and raised here but didnt fish moved to nc for a few years and picked up fishing there and moved back home to Washington. I was absolutely shocked at the amount of regs here and the cost of license and now discovery pass aswell. It is absolutely crazy here. go get a hunting tag here lol crazy compared to nc.

Mine is, "I'm older than everything except trees and dirt -- and older than most trees and a lot of the dirt. [thumbup]

Saw a sign that said "If you can get arrested for hunting and fishing without a license, but not for entering this country illegally, you might live in a country run by idiots." I don't think they were advocating dropping the requirements for hunting and fishing...

Didn't intend to get a license since I just started again. Some Wildlife officer came along and asked for my ID. Wrote a fine for $150, saying that the Salmon is supposed to come up the creek so I was not supposed to fish within 100 yards from the creek.

How was I supposed to know about the Salmon swimming? Or what time of the year they do that. He also said that it is a criminal offense for not having a Fishing License. Why is it a criminal offense.

He also wrote the same fine to an older guy who just had a liver transplant who was there too. Isn't this a little excessive?

I went to the local Big 5 and got a fishing license and it only covers up to March 31st. Also got a Discover Pass. It cost me over $210 that whole day. Can I do anything about this, or get the fine reduced somehow?
All I can do is laugh! This truly is an unreal story. If even remotely true, I applaud you for getting a license.... Time to read the regs! Welcome to the United States, every state has fishing regs.

I especially liked "How was I supposed to know about the Salmon swimming?" It's what they do...

Could it be because it is a crime?

All of us that are somewhat dry behind the ears have heard the old adage, "Ignorance is no excuse for the law."
