Finding crappie near the spokane area??? anyone

Anyone know where I can find some crappie? or is this the wrong season for them?? Thanks

Check out Silver and Clear Lakes. I've heard they've both got good populations of crappie. I've seen crappie hanging around the docks on Clear. Evenings are the best time to fish for them at this time of year, but I've had a good day or two at high noon. Spring is the best time to get after them, usually during the spawn.

Coffeepot Lake and Lower Twin Lake also have good crappie numbers (or so I've heard). They're just a little further outside of Spokane area

This is my favorite time of year to fish for crappie. Like Raffensg64 mentioned noon can be a good time. Come about 2pm or 3pm you can see them hanging out under the shade of the moored boats. My favorite time to catch them is during the night, from about midnight to sun up, they are attracted to light, so work a dock light or bring a lantern. Unfortunately Im not too familiar w/ that part of the state. I did pretty good a sprague last year for crappie. But look in the regs, any lake that has catch limit/size limit has those rules for a reason, which usually means productive crappie fishing.

SILVER LAKE!!!! Last sunday on the east side of the lake in 25 feet of water my son and I caught a dozen of them, but you have to put of with schools of bluegill. Newman also has a few

I use to use red/white. But found that yellow/white work better. Now I use all white, but at night the nite brite (glow in the dark) work the best. But during the day the nite brite work great too. I like the 1/64 oz and will use the 1/32 oz. But I caught a bunch this year on 1/16 oz. I always tip my jigs w/ maggots. Sometimes worms, but will use perch meat more often then worms. Every once in a while when I can get away w/ it I use no bait.

We have been catching lots of them in Eloika since the first of July. Average fish is around 10 inches. The last hour before dark has been best lately. Never once caught one at night myself. We use 1/32 oz mini jigs 3-4 feet below a pencil bobber and fish just above the lower level weeds. Dark orange and brown skirts topped with a worm have worked best for us in recent weeks.
Go toward mid lake where there is open water and fish around the clumps of weeds hitting the surface. Dont let the all weeds in this lake scare you off. If you learn how to fish this lake and you will love it. The weeds make the lake into one big food factory for fish. And there are LOTS of fish in it.

Eloika Lake has a pretty good crappie fishery from what the latest reports have said, using tubes, I was thinking about hitting it today

though it is VERY weedy....the deepest part of the lake is only 15 feet (see topomap)

My partner and I got a few dozen on Clear Lake a few nights ago....problem is, most were only 5-7". Does anybody know if there are large numbers of larger crappie in Clear?
