Ive never fished up that way. Maybe in the near future I can meet up with ya and I can learn a lil from ya. I like fishing new areas. And always enjoy learning new things.

There are some springers on the Cowlitz right now. I'm also pretty sure we had a Coho on the line Monday but it was about a foot down in the water when it got off and I was paddling the boat so I didn't get the best look at it.

I found out this year that theres apparently a very small super late winter coho run that occurs in January and Feb. A number of guys who have been fishing skykomish and snoqualmie have been catching some coho's while fishing for steelhead. Veryyyyy interesting.

When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Last week only 38 Steelhead returned to the Cowlitz Hatchery. Nothing else. I feel like I was wasting my time Monday.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't every fish have to go through the hatchery to get upriver? (lol 'native' fish on the Cowlitz)

ckim85 there is a small run of late coho to the wallace. and most of the time they are smaller fish. if i remember right there is about 500 to 700 late silvers that come back to the wallace.

So Im hoping the cow has them comming up already. I been talking to the wife and we might bring our trailer there and stay fri sat and sun next weekend. I know for sure im staying one night. Hopefully Ill be reporting some good tales of some good tails. Good luck to you.
Yah, from what I've gathered it seems one of the only ways to really hit the columbia is by boat. Cowlitz and Lewis should both get decent returns though. Wish I had a sled!!! Hey pooh, still plannin' on the last weekend of Feb. right?

There are a few good places for shore Plunkin on the Columbia, Frenchmans Bar near Vancouver is one, also just below the Bonneville and Warrington. Oh ya Oak Tree hole which is across from Ives Island on the Washington side.

Come on peeps we're all in this together, give up some of your spots to Scott.

I sure hope so!
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

I am ready for the springers, but the bank account is not. Our two income household is still one income short of two incomes. The 500 mile roundtrip at 14 or 15 MPG is going to hurt this year. I am assessing my availability, but I may be looking for somebody to share springer expenses. I live in Skagit County, have a boat and am a fairly confident fisherman. I would typically be running south early Saturday mornings. Once I figure out my schedule I would like to meet and fish with the perspective “fishing buddy” locally before we commit to a Columbia trip or if things work out, many trips. Anyway just food for thought…
