Ah, the 60's! And I don't mean the 1960's.

Just turned 60 in late August and spent the day on Curlew Lake surrounding myself with bass. What a great way to spend your b-day!

As for taking grandkds, I'm raising my only g-son (just turned 12) and he's the co-pilot/skipper on 99% of the trips we take.

Got him some 8# catfish on the Snake on Father's day and he learned finesse fishing for bass at Curlew.

Take the grandkids indeed!!!!!

My oldest grandson is old enough now to fish and loves it. My other grandchildren aren't old enough yet, but they will probably take an interest in it also. You have to keep the tradition going you know....

Keeping with tradition is so true!

My grandkid is SO into fishing it's scary at times. He even has his own screen name for this site and has posted a few times asking for help!

If you see a post from "bobberboy" help him out, he's one of us!

I'm so old I remember a time when Edmond's didn't have the fishing pier. A time when you could actually go fishing off the old pedestrian walk area to the ferry. A time when you could catch fish. A time when we had hake and true cod and a lot of silvers that actually hit the lure instead of looking at it like thats stupid why would I want to bite that?

In reality I'm in my 40's... just about half way into em so far.

Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.

Older than dirt. Been fishing since I was 4 so that makes 60 years fishing experience.

I don't remember how old I was when I started. My dad taught me when I was young. I remember him teaching me knots, and how to catch bait (grew up in SC, where we can use live bait). He died when I was 12, so I couldn't ask him how old I was when he taught me those things. I stopped fishing then, and didn't start again until a few months back.

I took my daughters, 4 and 7 at the time (now 5 and 7) to that lake/pond behind Wal-Mart in South Hill on kids only weekend in May. My 7 year old had been asking me all winter to take her fishing, I really owe that little girl for getting me back out there.

My oldest caught her first fish at Alder Lake, it was a perch, then she caught 2 more of them on her spiderman pole that day. My youngest caught a trout on her little barbie pole. I'm going to make sure I'm still around when they're old enough to care about questions like "how old was I when I caught my first fish?"

The next weekend I went hiking with my girlfriend, we had met two weeks prior. We camped at Lena lake, and caught dinky brook trout and drank CPT Morgan's Private Stock from my Nalgene bottle.

My fishing season hasn't ended, and it won't, I'll pump straight through the winter. I've grown a taste for American Lake of late, and I'm after another nice sized 'bow.

I think the chart at the beginning of this topic should be changed to include ages - 80 and older. Some folks can still fish at 80+ years of age.
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

Sorry Bob, but once it is set in motion, can't change it. There are only 9 choices and to cover all age ranges, I had to go 71 years and older. I believe that you fall in that range:thumright

I turn 40 next month and plan on doing more fishing every year. Hopefully this will coincide with being able to afford better boats and equipment over the years.
