What a trip. Went almost as well as I expected. Since a few people canceled at the last minute, the majority of the remaining people decided that they would rather just fish rather than compete. And fish we did. Starting off in the morning, we thought it was going to be phenomenal fishing all day, but as it turned out it was just a short window. In the first 10 minutes of fishing (started between 6:30am and 7:00am) 4 fish were caught between 2 boats with the biggest being 28" (hehe it was mine) and after that it just shut off with minimal action. There are a couple of things I can attribute the action and non-action to and that is the moonset and the little cool front that blew in. Another boat in our group caught a couple around 11am and then kenster caught 3 (so he says, i am still waiting for pictures) between 3 and 4 pm. Overall I would have to say it was one of the better fishing trips (more fish caught by all, in fact at least 2 fish per boat). At the end of the day, Miles and Jon, our Chapter chefs cooked up some good grub and we all hung out by the campfire and ate and told stories and hopes of catching that infamous 50" pike. Yes I said it, FIFTY INCH, the big 5 0 pike. That monster will have to come another day, but I am determined.

The biggest fish of the weekend was the 28" one I caught but I have not talked to kenster if he caught any on sunday. I had an HD video camera so I will try and decipher a picture from there if possible, other than that I am still waiting on some pictures from the fellow anglers (chuck I know you have a nice picture of a 24" one. I know because I took it.) All in all it was a good time. It sounds like some other individuals fishing on their own that are not in the chapter did alright during saturday boating a few bass and some pike with the biggest being 8#'s. I still think the prime fall fishing has yet to come.
The weather was a little crazy with the wind oh and the wind and did I forget to mention the wind!! and yes (well I can only speak for my party) we got caught on the I-90 closure due to the dust storm that caused an accident and there was 0 visibility. We had to take a 50 mile detour, but we made it home safely.

Until next time.

I was up there also on Sat but launched at oldtown and headed North not knowing for sure how many boats would be in your group. We boated three Pike, biggest was about 28" and lost a couple more from leaps and roles. We only caught a few SMB but they were all quality size.

One thing I noticed that I am sure affected the fishing is that Thurs-Sat the river level came up about a foot and a half and I have always not had as good of luck when that happens until it settles back down. Nice to see the addional water to help with navigating the river.

Thanks for the report Lucius, sounds like it was a good time. Glad you all caught fish and it would be good to see some pics. Wow, that really was some wind storm, how did you get around it? Glad you got home safely. Thought about you all being stuck waiting for it to open back up and getting home really late because of it. Glad to hear there was a way around.

Dust storm you say.... Welcome to my world.

Glad to hear you all had a great time.

I was eagerly awaiting the results of this trip and hoping to get out that way when I get home next year. I grew up fishing for pike and look forward to chasing them again one day soon. Glad to hear you all had a great time. I'll be there next year with Lucius.

As for the dust storms, we have been lucky so far. Only one that I'll call a storm but as it gets into the fall months I know there’s more on the way. Oh what fun?
Take care and we'll see you all soon.

Looks like you all had a good time and caught a bunch of fish.
I think I heard there is a TigerPac meeting this Thursday, is that right? Are any of you Pike fishers going to be there to tell your stories?

Kenster, are you a really big guy, or is that fish kinda small? I'm new to fishing for pike and muskie but it seems that a trophy like this should not be forgotten! Might I suggest a LAX?
