Carp flies

I was looking for a reason to give this board a bump, and I have been looking for some new fly patterns to tie, and it finally hit me to combine the two! =D
So, as an uber n00b to carping, what would be some effective flies to tie for this fall?

The question that begs for a answer is; why carp when it's time to catch real fish.......

If you're in Eniat, why fish for carp?

I'm noob aswell to carp fishing, but I've done alot of research and the majority of the patterns should be earth tones, heavily weighted, and anywhere from #4 to #8. They can be attractor type, or imitations (dragon nymphs, crawdad's, large mayfly/stone nymphs, even eggs work sometimes). Floating line is usually used, since any sink tip makes a hell of a splash, something the carpsters don't take kindly to. Also, it's worth noting that it's a little late in the season for carping.

I'll post some pics of my patterns tomarrow.

@.@ NOOOO!!!! I'm in Pullman now, at University -.-' Guess I'll have to wait until Thanksgiving break to hit up my home stream... WAAHHH!!! Q.Q

But ya, on a camping trip a few weeks ago I hooked into my first carp, on my 4wt rod. It was great until he spit the hook a few feet from shore...After 15 minutes of fighting. >/ So I wanted to try it again. I also plan on hitting the Grande Ronde sometime soon (if its open), as well as scouting streams in Idaho.
But I have a better idea about what to use in those situations, so for now carp flies are on my mind. :P

And thnx, SAPIplate, I appreciate the info. I was afraid it was getting pretty late for it... Especially since its forecasted to be no warmer than 56 degrees the rest of the week. >[

Yeah, April to September is usually the best time.

I alwayys knew Pullman was boring, Didn't realize it was a big enough snoozer to turn a man to carp fishing...
