Humpy Hollow redux

Post by zen leecher aka Bill W » Fri Sep 04, 2009 2:10 pm

Hit Humpy Hollow again this morning. I wouldn't say it was red hot but my buddy kept count and he said he limited in 1 hour and 3 minutes. It took me a bit longer. We fished from 8:30 to a little shy of noon.

Bottom line was 8 humpies punched. Very few lost and a 12-15 lb "humpy" released as the spots looked a little funny. (round not blurred). I told my buddy that it was the biggest "humpy" I'd ever seen. 4 days earlier it would have been legal. (area 9)

Tomorrow's trip will be the Skagit River for river humpies.

I have been hearing that humpy fishing has been fast and furious in 8-2.

Week before last I fished the Shipwreck with a buddy from work and Fetchitup7 (myself and one of them on each trip). In three days we harvested 23 pinks and caught and released 3 Kings estimated to be between 14 and 16 pounds.

This last week I took Fetchitup7 out on Wednesday and we had our 8 in the boat in 2 hours. On Thursday the wind was hummin (22 mph while we were out there thanks to IPhone internet for that data) and the waves and swells were in the 4 to 5 foot range which hindered fishing and we got skunked after 2.5 hours of fighting the wind and debris on our flashers and mini squids. Friday I took 2 guys from work out and one of them brought his 9 year old son. We caught 6 pinks and fought and released a nice king estimated in the 16 pound range in a 2.5 hour time frame ending this last week with 14 pinks harvested. All the kings were wild. Total of 37 pinks harvested in 6 trips to the Shipwreck noting that one of the 6 trips we got skunked. Not bad fishing at all. The rivers are getting great reviews so I am looking forward to fishing the Stilli this coming Friday.

Here are a few pics of some of the fish we caught. Great eating!!!!

Carl, In my opinion it was slowish on Friday. What made it appear fast fishing was that we only had one fish come loose. Everything else that was hooked made it to the net.
