great thread howard. i'm slowly collecting a list of places we should go this season from talking to various people on here and at various tackle shops.
looks like us shorebound people will still have some good luck. I drove up to Tulalip today and crossed the Snohomish River and that might be a good start not too far for us either.
Anyway, i'm sure we'll talk endlessly about it this week haha.
Btw, good thing you didnt come out to Haller today...couple bummy drunks came wandering down and was throwing racist remarks about "how dem ***** gon eat all the fish"
there was a family of asians fishing for trout next to me and we all packed up and left. Shame this kinda thing still happens :/

Bragging may not bring happiness, but no man having caught a large fish goes home through an alley.

Thats an easy 911 drunk in public. On the west side the sherif is never too far away. on the east side, maby not so much. We pay them to take care of that sort of thing.

RE:pinks are coming soon (not soon enough)
This will be my third year fishing for salmon in the rivers and 2nd pink salmon season. My main river I fish is the green river mainly cause it is so close to me and over the past 3 years. I've put hundreds of hours fishing for salmon steelhead from the mouth of the green river(duwamish) to hwy 18 and thats about as far as I've made it up the river but as for bank fishing I know many bank spots with and without tidal flow up the river pm me and I'll key u in on a couple. My buddy is going to fish the river this year for the first time and i'm unemployed so I'm forecasting a killer salmon season.

i have heard of locations such as the near the west seattle bridge (near alki...etc), does anyone else know any other locations to fish em? rivers..creeks? anywhere before their body starts decaying ..etc. I think the snoqualmie would be a little late right? by the time they get to rivers such as those, they wouldnt be good to eat anymore right?
RE:pinks are coming soon (not soon enough)
Howard, I've got a long list of places that are supposed to be great for pinks. I've been compiling a list by talking to various members on here and the guys over at Outdoor Emporium. I'll tell you all about it later.

As long as you don't fish to high on most rivers around here, or to late. They will be just fine. The Sky below Sultan and the Snoqualmie below Duvall are good bets. Relativly deep, walking speed runs are what you want. Especially fish corners, or the slackwater on the edge of faster shoots.howardi211 wrote:i have heard of locations such as the near the west seattle bridge (near alki...etc), does anyone else know any other locations to fish em? rivers..creeks? anywhere before their body starts decaying ..etc. I think the snoqualmie would be a little late right? by the time they get to rivers such as those, they wouldnt be good to eat anymore right?

RE:pinks are coming soon (not soon enough)
I can't wait for the pinks to arrive. Although I primarily fish for them in the salt, once they arrive in big numbers, I will take a couple weeks off from work and will fish the Sound and rivers hard for them. I sometimes hear a select few talking bad about pink salmon and wonder if they have only ever caught these fish after they have been in the rivers for several weeks. The pinks I have caught over the years in the salt have always been in great condition with sea lice still attached. In the rivers I have also caught them in great shape before the hump and deterioration even starts to develop. So these fish are very fresh when they arrive in the salt and maintain their condition for a reasonable time once they hit the rivers. As discussed on this site on several occasions; a little care after landing these fish insures the meat quality as best as can be expected with a pink salmon. I love to bake them, BBQ them, and fry them up in butter with a little seasoning and they taste great. I also love to smoke them up which I am sure I will do with the majority of the fish we harvest this season. I'm jacked for their arrival and can't wait to get at them. I also love to hear other members getting excited for this odd year fishery. Good luck to all.
RE:pinks are coming soon (not soon enough)
I'll be along the Skagit as usual...been fishing the skagit for pinks my entire life.
I'll be ignoring the popular sandbars, though. Don't need the crowds, and there are much more productive waters to fish than the "popular" bars along the lower skagit.
Best of luck everyone! These fish are great freash on the BBQ and/or smoked!
