does the location change? like will you be able to notice/find it in say 3 feet of water or 8 feet? i think my biggest challenge is finding the bed im sure i have stumbled upon some but just dont no that its it
Today she met me at the door, said I would have to choose, if I picked up that fishing rod today, she'd be packing all her things and she'd be gone by noon....well I'm gonna miss her when I get home

No problem! Just make sure if you catch a Bed-Bass whether it be Male or Female please by all means release it as soon as possible,..unless of course you are Touney-Bassin! Thanks!

BED FISHING

By: BOLDbomber

Grab your rod and reel and head to the lake,..
Bass are on beds, fishing's a "piece of cake",..

Any fisherman that can and see and can cast,..
Will be rewarded with some very nice bass,..

The bass stay on their beds all day and all night,..
Protecting their offspring, of course they will bite!

Throw tubes, dropshots, senkos, craws and jigs,..
And take lots of pictures of your big trophy pigs,..

Nice job on your catch, but let there be no doubt,..
Bed fish are easier than hatchery trout,..

The ones who really love bed fishing are the anglers that wish,..
They'd ever never leave the nests so they could keep catching fish,..

BOLDbomber agrees with BB, put them back right away
So they can be caught 8 more times that day,..

One last tip when fishing a bed,..
make sure your hook, weight and line are all RED!

My thoughts on Bedding-Bass:

Male Bass on Beds are easy I agree,
But let there be no mistake the catchin isn't free.

You still have 2 put time on the water,
know what you're doing this isn't "Clam-Chowder".

Someone dosen't just serve it in a bowl,
this isn't "fish-in-a-barrell" just so you know.

There's a method to the madness and most Bassers will agree,
when you catch a Bed Bass it's not just 1-2-3!

You can catch the males all day and forever,
but Momma's what we want,
this becomes our treasure.

You have 2 think outside the box,
2 catch the Big Gurl cause she's slick like a fox.

Catch her coming in and back 2 the bed,
keep an eye on her as she's shaking her head.

Like JW says use the Drop-Shot and more,
or as Tag has put it cast a Spinner 2 the shore,
drag it back and slow roll for a bit,
cause you never know just when Big Momma will hit.

Our CPR methods are important for this,
don't take them away from their beds or they'll miss
the predators that try and snatch their eggs,
and make a mess on the bed where they lay.

Bassin-On-Beds is not easy as you say,
you still have 2 know what you're doing, it's not childs play.
Just another method in our Bassin-Weapons,
but let's remember to upgrade the protection.
These Bass are vulnerable right now can't you see,
so try and catch Big-Momma and leave Poppa be!

how big are those beds in diameter roughly? I found a bunch of beds (what I thought were beds) on Lake Twelve. Everything looked like what you guys describe here on the forum, but they seemed big! at least 12"+ in diameter. otherwise though the area, the depth, and the formation were exactly the same.

As far as the bed fish I have caught this year..I release em where I caught em..and when I check, within seconds they are back on the bed. You couldn't tell the female from the male on a couple of beds..they were the same size...so the female doesn't always leave right away....unless she just wasn't finished with her deal...they hang out. Ask AaronE, we saw the same thing. And like tnj says...the bigger the bed, the bigger the fish...usually. My biggest to date was an 8-6 full of eggs caught in mid June. They spawn when they get the urge.

I was bed fishing at Moses last week and saw SM beds that were as big as the hood of a small car. They are almost done
