Years these events have happen and not just the Canal= we had death tides

all summer LAST SUMMER that covered 10 miles areas and just ask the local Orca Whale pods how there local health and numbers are doing.

Many calls were made even to the Feds and these were not just small red tides these were impacting everything they reached.

The temps dropped and we had a few storms and they were gone the Canal is starving for (Air) and better tides and I have seen hundreds of Lings, Rockers and more washed up on the beach dead in late July.
Over Growth, fertilizers and a list much longer have almost killed her and if this keeps up all those $$$$$$ dollar dream pads water side will be empty home wastelands:-$ ! For them about them.

Mother=nature is cruel you punish her she will punish you 100 times worse![-(

LAST SUMMER IT DID NOT STOP UNTIL OUTSIDE PNT where the tides are ripping and we saw fry, babies trying to leap out of it choking and worse:-& !!!

Nice post dustin. This just proves that the waterways and canals around here a fragile eco systems. If we don't act now some of our children and grand children won't be able to enjoy the sound like we got to.

thanks for the pics of the red tide and the youtube video. that puget sound partnership video is depressing :(

in the fishing reports... it seems like the higher populated and poluted regions yield the worst fishing.

I live in Bellingham and I have seen that video on KVOS several times. That was back before TV went digital and my rabbit ears stopped getting national TV........ startled me when I saw it about two years ago, still does now.

Yep seen this video, I actually did some project report on hypoxia in Hood Canal for my envirochemical engineering class this past semester. Guess it's happened about 4 times since 2002 there. At least they're trying to make a water waste treatment plant that'll help a little with the nitrogen that gets leaked into the canal.
