Buying new boat - Have many questions

Everything I know about those boats is posted there... I have no idea. If you're talking about the Hewescraft, I think they come with a standard 25.5" Transom with a 3.5" step.

The Pro Vs do not have extended transoms, and neither do any of the Sportsman series. To get an extended transom, a potential buyer would have to be looking at SeaRunners or larger.

The Alumaweld and Harbercraft both sound like they have extended transoms, note the "off shore brackets" which usually indicate what many call an extended transom.

The price for an '09 Pro V with the 150 Optimax was $29995 and had every option except anchor roller, sidewall carpet, & courtesy lights. Adding an 8hp electric start was $2195 so that puts it in the same ballpark as the others, however, we just bought the only one in Spokane. :colors:

Im a fan of the Hewescraft boats because it keeps dollars local to our area and keeps people at places like CdA Metals and Hewes in Colville employed.

Still a little on the pricey side, but Im sure you can work em down a bit.

I'm not pushing Raider boats because I ended up buying one, however they are usually a bit less expensive and if you can get a good quote on one it may help you when you negotiate on another boat. There is a dealer in Spokane, The Boat Shop of Spokane, who should be able to give you a good detailed quote. Also, keep in mind that a custom ordered boat is not that big of an issue for these folks, actually I think they prefer it. Most boat dealerships are not like car dealerships where there there is a ton of product on the lot and they need to move it quickly. If they don't have what your looking for or cannot rig a boat they have on the lot the way you like it, by all means get a quote on a built to order boat.

One last bit of advise, now that you have an aluminum boat, don't forget to spool up with super line on your downriggers.

Mount= real Rod holders off the leading edge not off the riggers just off them up and out is wrong#-o .
Pushing the side is and down is a much better application:-$

This is the correct location on a rod holder off the downrigger and use 9ft Glass rods they eat it each and everytime:chef:

Thanks Swede. Not sure how often I'll be in a position to use downriggers, but I'll take your advice into account when the time comes to get them. When I said custom, what I meant was that they are ordering it from the factory with the options and colors that I requested.

Garmin 400 read fish and depth finder only off the rear transom in the bang zone with the riggers and tons more at way under any market value $$ when your ready and we can custom trim tab that tub as well electrics/ for you about you like a Nord did from doing!!!

The key to the Garmin 400 fish and depth finder is the (P66 transducer) fish death and same on all the RayMarine$$$$$ units but you have to ask for it!

What you don't know can never hurt you in most cases it can though produce bad livers, kidneys, cracks and lean fish boxes.

Congrats on the new boat Aaron. I spoke with Rick this morning when dropping our Sportsman off and he told me you had sealed a deal. I didn't want to steal your thunder so I made sure you posted about it here first.

Sounds like a carbon copy of mine, except for the Lowrance unit and the Traxstech tracks. Are you getting hour meters on both motors? I will be installing an hour meter on my kicker because it's the only way to keep track of hours and all service is recommended based on hours of use or once per season. Sure takes the guesswork out of the equation when it comes time to service and sell.

Rick said he'd probably have ours ready by Wednesday, seems like forever right now.

Was a bittersweet moment delivering our "old" boat today, we just loved that boat. I know the new one will be much better and we'll be much happier with it. Now I get to outfit all over again.

Hey Swede, PM me a price on the Garmin 400 with the dual frequency transducer. I was happy with the 320 and I think I might just put a 400 on the new "tub". Oh, and there are no trim tabs on the ProV and they're not available as an option. I'll wait until I know whether I need to consider adding them before going that route.

Those are my mates/pirate chasers one is the Swede LOL/=yes we press the downriggers arms/booms out as far as we can due to the cheater Rod is down the prop wash and I stack 2 rigs off each downrigger on many trips were greedy!:-$ :chef:

Thanks! I'm sure that my family and I will enjoy it. I made sure it was big enough for the entire family, as well as a few tag-alongs. I'm sure most of the time there will only be 2 of us in the boat which will be awesome. There is sooo much room in the back for gear, coolers, people, whatever... and that will be handy when we need to have a couple of fully inflated tubes on board. My kids are totally excited now since we've never had a tubing capable boat.

Oh if I only could. I'm probably not you to see the boat till April 17th(ish). Skipper Bill's sold their only other Pro-V to hewesfisher the other day so they have to order it up form the factory. I sure hope it arrives sooner than expected. Mercury is having a great special on their motors up till April 15th. If you register your motor before then they will give you a 5 year warranty of them instead of the normal 3. I've asked them to do everything they can to get me the boat before then.

I also have a Neah Bay trip planned with Mike for April 20th. I might just be able to get out on it once before leaving for that trip. Hope so. The wait will kill me.

Let me know when it comes in. Ill have ya bring it down to our place, we can go do a shakedown cruise with support on the lake here. 24 miles of open water to do all the test and tune, setup, and dialing in.
