RE:Pulling power?
Before I bought a bigger boat,I used a '99 Blazer to tow a 17' Alumaweld sled. I towed it all over the state and had no problems over any of the passes. I'd run 55+ over Stevens.
The 4.3 is a gutsy little engine. Its basically a 350 (5.7 liter) with 2 less cylinders.
I'd have no problems pulling the boats your looking at with your Blazer.

RE:Pulling power?
Kevinb,
I have a 18' bass boat with a 150 on it and it weighs about 2800lbs. I have also pulled my dads 19' with a 200. I have a Dodge Dakota with a 4.7 V8. That is the smaller V8 and does not have a ton more power than the V6. It pulls just fine on the flats and i don't even notice that it is there. I can feel it on the hills. I think that a V6 is fine with a 18 foot boat as long as you don't push it too hard on big long hills.
If you use your head you will be just fine. No need to push your truck too hard with a boat behind it anyway.
Did you buy something already??

RE:Pulling power?
This is a basic tow rig loaded, unloaded BB 502 RAT Bow tie every upgrade 575 ponies 550 T = 1 ton crew cab 456 screws, 4x4 with gear vendors Turbo 400, 37 inch mudders. Over sized tranny and motor coolers, custom radiators 3 batteries, Rear Air bags computer system , Kicker shocks controlled, 3 inch exhaust off custom headers, 14 inch external k-n air performance system
Made remote Alaska 3x all over the Globe, largest camper made 25fter it pulled each and all and even pulled 2 homes down with 2 chains:-#
This is real simple tranny, brakes, front end parts and 20 more if you cover Mountain passes with loads will fail just when?
Sooner then the 220,000 miles towing, camper boats, horse trailers and more did and when I sold the beast it still smoked the 37's down to the rim is asked.:cyclopsan
You must take weights, lengths, grades weather into every trip I had zero failures on safety and care and she saw 20 plus States and more towing 24-7
There was a small rumor I had 3-4 sand/desert brides on the side to feed her:colors: :cyclops:

the side,I'm trying to be a little disciplined about it. I've seen some great boats out there but as the fishing
season heats up,so do the prices. I might even holdoff until the end of the season when everyone starts
putting their boats away.
Thanks for all the information folks, its very much appreciated:salut:
