No objections from this peanut gallery. As long as we stick with the only motive power to be fins and oars. And also keeping kayaks and inflatable rafts out also I think.
I was going to ask, if I ditched the oars and only went fin power in my pontoon, could I play too? My lil 5' toon can be maneuvered with or without oars.
But, looks like I qualify anyway,

My only concern would be that we could miss out on members who have a pontoon that is too big for fin only power. While Trent's experience is enlightening, the results of one tournament may not be indicative of the overall results. This is especially the case given different bodies of water, weather conditions etc... Plus, it sounds like Trent's experience was with a kayak/canoe (sorry in advance if my understanding is incorrect). A toon does not track the same as a boat. I say allow the use of oars for at least trial runs and see where things go before any final decisions are made. Again, just my opinion.

That's what I was thinking. Since we won't incorporate as an actual chapter until after the upcoming fishing season, we've got the entire year to see what works and what doesn't work.

We can run test runs of both different methods. That is what is good about the one year test run that we can get all these things ironed out and get the Chapter to be a well running chapter so that it is a benefit and fun for everyone. Because in the end that I think is the main goal ... to get a group of us together and fish. But with these debates now it will help build a strong long lasting foundation. Great points to all.

Don't use the word tournament either (unless you have a permit), fish-in is a more safe term.

We'll have actual tournaments once we're chartered, permits have been filed, etc. Until then, we won't have tournaments but we'll have groups going out and fishing together.

That is the plan! This year will be getting together and trying to get this idea moving in a forward direction.

Sounds great so far. Let's get some dates together to start meeting and/or fishing. Starting next month the bass action should start to pick up, even if it doesn't, the water should be a little warmer for those who do not like to tube/toon in the colder waters (of course that might just be the bass bug telling me I need to get out and catch one soon before I go crazy). Any suggestions for early season lakes we could hit? I was thinking potentially Spanaway, or somwhere similar, given the presence of both largemouth and smallmouth.

Good idea Kevin ... let's at least get an informal fish-in scheduled which will also be a good greet and meet from everyone that is interested. I am thinking maybe either the last week of February (weekend of the 28th) or the first week of March (weekend of the 7th). Thoughts? Location can still be bantered around.

Okay I am trying to organize our first informal meeting. I am looking at either the 2/28 or 3/7. Thoughts? Also I thought we could do a fish-in as well as isnt that what all this is about. So I am open for suggestions on locations as well. Let me know and we will get this thing going!

I would say 3/7 would be better. Give the water one extra week to warm up. As far as locations...I would say Spanaway or somewhere similar given the mixed bag of fish available.

I agree with the 3/7 as a date also. Lets see what everyone else comes up with. I have no issue with Spanaway as it is 5 minutes from my house. Thanks Kevin!

There is an awesome lake that boats can't get to any more it's called Wes Lk up by browns creek right befor the steel bridge LLLLoaded with LMB. I have been there with snow on the ground and caught bass with spinners. That was in March. Befor the gate was put in about 7 years ago. I also know of more Lks that boats can't get to.
