When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

I haven't really taken any significant time off from work this summer but I did take several local lake fishing trips and went crabbing 7 times, two of which we also fished for salmon. Needless to say, I ate allot of crab which by the way is only 100 calories per 4 ounces, and had some great trips.
My biggest success / accomplishment this year and summer has been my weight loss. I am 6' 3" and in December of last year I weighed 403 pounds. I carry my weight well and have always been a big guy but in December I realized once and for all that I was tired of being this huge guy. So I made a decision to change my life and my eating habits. That meant eating healthy full time and beginning a long term exercise program which includes brisk walks and recently some jogging, and weight training. As of today I weigh 321 pounds which is 82 pounds lost. My work uniforms are hanging off of me (new pants on order and just got 2 new uniform shirts which I will have taken in) and it has been absolutely great. I have tried and failed many times to loose weight in the last 20 years and finally I am able to commit to this for life. At first I was very realistic knowing I could fail. Almost 9 months later I am sure this change is permanent. I feel amazing, have more energy than ever before, and life is great. My goal is to have lost 100 pounds by Christmas which should be no problem and ultimately I will shoot for 275 as a goal. From there I will maintain and maybe slowly drop a few more pounds long term. That's my summer and my story.

That is a great summer to me Dave. What a commitment (you too rac). I have heard losing that much weight can be harder than quitting smoking and even harder than stopping heroin. That takes some serious will power. Truly remarkable.......keep up the great work!!

Thanks Rac and Rolland,
Congrats to you Rac. I wondered if you were still at it. That's awesome! I have lots of clothes that have been in my closet for ever that I am now able to again wear. Some cool BDU pants, several shirts and some light weight jackets. I'm relieved to be lighter and very determined to make this a life long thing once and for all. I just got so tired of feeling tired and self conscious in my uniform and just bumming around. I would walk up one flight of stairs at work and be winded. Now I jog up the same stairs like it's nothin. I love how great I feel. I am sure you feel the same Rac. Anyway, it's been great. Thanks for the kind words.

Wow!! That's awesome to read/hear. I'm 6'3" and only 175 (just my build and I'd love the extra weight and no eating more does not do it -- it's a rockin metabolism). For you, at that height, 240-250 is solid. It will come in time. Keep it up Dave and good work...ain't it easy.Dave wrote:

Nice 2 hear Rollin,..I usually take the winters off but decided this year 2 take the summer off instead,..seems 2 have worked out nicely for me and the Fam-Bam,..I just hope we have a mild winter,..last winter knocked me on my butt,..2 many hours put in daily and way 2 cold,..I build Post-Tension Cable Decks for High Rise Bldgs and when it's 2 cold and you're 40 stories above the world those decks get like an ice rink and the rebar,..well that's another story entirely,..so I might do the same again next season,..besides I enjoy Bassin in the summertime way 2 much,..LOL!
