23 August Merwin

Post by muskyhunter28 » Tue Aug 19, 2008 12:02 pm

I just wanted to let everyone know, After much thought.
I have decided not to fish the Tournament this Saturday!
I want all members of chap 57 to enjoy my lake.
Therefore I will stay off it to give everyone a fair chance!

This was very hard for me. But it is the right thing to do!
See you all at Mayfield!

Don/Muskyhunter28,
I disagree with your decision. I for one was looking forward to BS'n with ya and learning a thing or two from you. I'll bet many of us could learn quite a bit from you and the rest of you SW musky fishermen.
Understand that the main objective of these tourneys is the sharing of information and camaraderie. The only competition allowed is between fishermen and the fish. If everyone stayed home for whatever reason, there wouldn't be much camaraderie nor much to share after or during the event.
I'm sure everyone in this Chapter shares my feelings on this and would rather have you attend than pass.
I'm asking you to attend.

If we had all bowed out of the Tapps tournament because it was "our lake", there wouldn't have been hardly anyone there to fish! Besides, only a couple fish were caught after a long, hot day of fishing. It might be your home stomping grounds, but you still have to catch them to win........Like Mark said, the only competition is between you and the fish. If any of us are worried about losing the pot to a local fisherman because of his "advantage", we don't belong in this tournament. We are there to have fun, tell lies and enjoy the company of ALL of the members that want to participate.

We'll see you there MH28!
I worry about belonging to a club that accepts people like me as members!

Hey brother,

I remember a comment to the post I submitted with 2 nice fish I caught there - you said it must have been from another lake! I was really hoping (as many others were) that the few people who actually had solid experience like you and Don would be able to share your knowledge lakeside after the tourney. It is always better to hear the stories and tactics at the location being described. Not to mention the more the merrier and that speaks to the best part of our chapter - we are not like so many other fishing clubs that focus on competition and secrets! We are there to share knowledge and experience to expand the awareness and love of responsible musky fishing! Of course, I am sure everyone respects your desicion but would still like to se you there. Just my thoughts - Ski

Well guys I have failed, I knew it might happen at least once in my life (not counting what my wife says).......

I have done everything i can think of to get MH28 to join us, but no can do. So based on that I'm going to barrow a bunch of his gear to include his Dad, then come Monday morning I'll rub my winning in his face. That should teach him not to miss another one of these..

LOL

See ya all in three days

Stan.
Enjoy Your Days & Love Your Life' Because Life is a journey to be savored !!!! GO FISHING

As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria.

Remember:
Water = Poop,
Wine = Health.

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of poop

Tony Welch and I have been fishing Merwin since Monday. We saw four muskies and a naked woman in the parking lot today. Someone should be able to catch something Saturday.

a sad sad day really. my little brother "over books" the one fishing event on "his" lake!! i think the pressure got to him!

i know i would be there if i could! i didn't over book. i have the United States Army telling me i can't go!

at least i got to hit one tournament this year. :D

i'd watch out for muskyman and my dad, they are VERY DUE! i know for a fact my dad will catch biggest squaw fish! and muskyman has the pan fish category locked up!

i've been fishing a couple times down here in Texas. man i gotta tell ya, i miss the home waters! the lake i was at, is covered in litter and not maintained at all! it makes you appreciate the clean clear waters on the northwest! i can't wait to get home on the next leave and get a line in the water. i need more then one mucky for the year!

good luck today guys and gals!
