Sharpened spikes found buried in Green Lake

"We're horrified," said city parks spokeswoman Dewey Potter. "There can't be any other explanation than malice that we can think of."

Be careful out at Green Lake in Seattle, folks. There's evidently some crazy looking to hurt someone wading or swimming in the lake. And they were buried right by one of the most popular fishing areas.

Totally UNCOOL!!! Something stupid like that could easily kill a little kid. I hope they find and deap fry the culprit. Im sure its just some phycho metro sexual urban freek that did it and for the most part we are good to go but.... keep your eyes open at your fav fishing hole. Never know what the reasoning was behind it or where they might strike next. Report anything you think might be suspicious. Better safe than sorry!

terrible. i bet because this is such a popular lake that they do forensics on the metal and trace it back to some supplier, then find grinder dust on the sharpened edges and find the B*****D that did it. If properly motivated, it really isn't that hard to do....each metal will have a VERY specific alloy composition when analyzed chemically (Mass Spec), and will be able to be narrowed down pretty quick......hell, i'll do it myself!!

Certainly it's a horrible thing to do... but I'll tell you something, if you spent any time on Green lake you would know that the people who do the "Crew/skulling"
out there, are the most inconsiderate bunch of people on any lake i've been too. Interesting that they were found right where they put those units in the water.

Again, don't take that statement as condoning anything.. but I know the bank fisherman here just hate the crew people.

Basically, this is domestic terrorism (malicious endangerment of the public, with the political motive being county ordinance/laws on lake front usage) obviously targeting a specific group of people. whoever did this is going to be REAL SORRY...:pale:

One of the nuttiest things I've ever heard in awhile. It almost seems to sick to be real.
Why? Is what I want to know.

I always try to look for a logical explanation. When I 1st saw the article, I thought maybe somebody was throwing them at the carp. But 39 of em?? Nope I can't see anyone taking the time to make em, then packin a backpack full of home made spears down to Greenlake to try and get some carp.

Did the moron(s) who planted these things ever stop to consider something?

Green Lake is part of the Seattle City Park system -- which means anyone hurting themselves on one of these spikes would have grounds for a lawsuit against the the city of Seattle.

Yeah, I can guarantee that since they were initially found, most of the time was spent trying to figure out a way to not look like such idiots. lol
