I've only been there once (and never on the water) many many moons ago, we entered off of NS Sammamish Rd (next to I-90). I have been by the boat launch (off of E Lake Sammamish PKWY) on my way to Beaver but never been in that part of it.
Maybe somebody who knows the park can give everybody a rundown/description of its layout so we aren't all wandering aimlessly (my natural state).
Can you launch car toppers anywhere or are you restricted to the boat launch?
Hey Guys, sorry for the silence, I've been off to Yakima for my son's baseball tourney this weekend. The park has two seperate spots. The boat launch is big with I think 8 lanes for launch/retrieve. It's on the south end of the lake (as is the park). There is a no wake zone so small boats can launch safely and hug the shoreline going due west which takes you to a spit of land which is were Issaquah creek dumps into the lake. This spit is popular for people to beach boats on and hang out at. Just to the west of the spit is the park's beach area. Behind the beach is the park itself. You can't really launch cartoppers from the park, just the boat ramps, although you could walk tubes down from the park I guess.
I'm going to try to find a map and post it. My plan is to arrive early (as in when the park opens) and secure a spot for us. I'm thinking it will be close to the water/beach so we can keep stuff together. I'd love to bring my boat and fish but I can't be two places at once LOL. People can show up throughout the morning and launch boats and fish and then wander over to the spit and ground their boats. I think it would be great if we could take turns maybe with one guy watching the boats while others are at the park. The boats would be in viewign range but even so it's nice to know that gear is secure.
I may go over there tomorrow to get a better lay of the land. As mentioned, I will have a banner up and directions posted here.
OK, just added the maps, forgive my poor paint skills. The reservable spots were taken (a long time ago). But no matter - the park opens at 6:30am. fishnislife - if you could be there at opening to help me get a location, steal some picnic tables, set up some tables, etc, that would be great. Also, if there are a few members that could bring: 1) extra card tables for food and raffle items, 2) the large portable sunscreens - if people have these we could set up 2-3 (I have one to bring). 3) LARGE coolers and bags of ice so we can get the liquids on ice, 4) portable propane BBQ - propane is better because we can move it around, cooks better, etc. I will bring mine but having two just works a lot better.
I'm sure there is more and I know you guys have been working on some of this already. My son's baseball is now done (well as of Tuesday) so I can start focusing on this a bit more, though I know you guys that organized last year's event are probably three steps ahead of me! I will be in Oregon the 14th-18th, back on the 18th so I'll be out of the loop then.
Looking forward to this event!
