RE:hooks
I've discovered that when using powerbait or gulp eggs, sickle hooks hold them on the hook MUCH better than standard round-bend hooks.
Red size 6 Matzuo sickle octopus hooks are perfect for trout. (Color probably doesn't matter much.)

Try em, you'll like em! :bom:

RE:hooks
for trout I use a size 10 eagle claw hook. I've never had trouble keeping powerbait on the hook, I think you just have to firmly put the bait on there.

Trout and panfish, size 6 octopus Gamis

RE:hooks
I like Eagle claw or Gamikatsu egg hooks for powerbait for trout
I only use Eagle claw baitholders, cause I'm only fishing for perch or trout with these hooks and using worms and it ain't worth spending a lot on trout/warmwater fish.
For most of my lures I like Gami Siwash hooks.
For my saltwater jigs for bottomfish, I usually upgrade to Mustad or Gami Octopus hooks.
For my buzz bombs or other salmon jigs, I like Gami Octopus hooks. Trebles are illegal.
For my salmon lures, I like Gami or Owner Siwash hooks. Gami's do the trick and they aren't that pricey IMO.
Oops forgot to mention: Buy a little hook sharpener...Will save you money down the road because you can file some of those dull hooks back to being real sharp

RE:hooks
For powerbait I almost always use a Eagle Claw Lazer sharp bait holder size 8, or 6 if I'm after the 'big one.'

Matzuo sickle octopus hooks
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
RE:hooks
Gamakatsu and or Eagle claw Laser sharp. Thanks to Sam's info on hooks for flatfish, last night I changed out my flatfish trebles for Gamakatsu Siwash hooks which I will use very soon. They gotta be SHARP!!!
