How to mount rod holders to a fiberglass boat
I am wondering how you would mount a rod holder to a fiberglass boat. Do u just drill it in.
RE:How to mount rod holders to a fiberglass boat
I did some checking for you (I’m sure you also looked online) and I found nothing on the internet about mounting rod holders to fiberglass. Go figure! I called a couple friends of mine who have fiberglass Trophy boats, and both told me they used the rod mount that clamps to the side railing on their boats. Sorry I didn't have any mounting for you, Good luck. Here are a few that Cabela's sells.

I can't use the clamp on rod holders on my boat which is an older 12 ft Sears Gamefisher because the edge of the boat is too large. I have tried to figure something out because I really didn't want to drill holes. I use my hands for a holder.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Call up or e-mail Livingston boats and ask them what they do. I think they are still down in the Olympia area.Or you could contact Sorensen Marine in West Seattle 206-767-4622.They broke away from Livingston boats back in the early 70's and started making their own type of catamaran style hull.
RE:How to mount rod holders to a fiberglass boat
I have been running fiberglass boats for years, and I have always drilled mine, to mount pole holders. You might want to put a little sylicone around the hole just to make sure it is sealed. The way I looked at it was that to mount a transponder for a fish finder, you have to drill two holes and screw the transponder to the transom of a fiberglass boat, so why not to mount a pole holder. This is just my opinion and what I have done in the past without any problems.
Good Luck

Does your boat have oar locks? they make rod holders that attach to the oar locks - no cutting or drilling involved:cheers: Of course I don't use my oar locks, so it doesn't make a difference there - if you use them , then you would have a problem.
I've got two, one is made by Scotty - I like it and use it, I have another one that is made out of rod-iron covered in plastic. Didn't like it as much, so it is sitting in my "extras" box. You welcome to it if you can make arrangements to pick it up from me. PM me if you are interested.

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

fishingmachine: Type in "Scotty rod holders" in Google.
Fish On rod holders are very similar and can be found at most fishing shops.
The easiest rod holders are just clamp ons....Super easy to mount and no drilling required.
produce2troutcat gave you some good numbers to call...Ask the guys who sell the boats how to do it. They'll know...

Here's a picture of the one I have. I can't remember the name of it, but Boaters World has them and so does Cabelas if I remember right when I was in there a few weeks back...Issaquah Joes has them I believe, but don't hold me to it.

RE:How to mount rod holders to a fiberglass boat
but the livingston is so wide that they dont clamp on
RE:How to mount rod holders to a fiberglass boat
The clamp on I have probably could fit over my fist and I have big hands. If it doesn't work going straight down over the top, you can kinda work it in from the side, get one side of the clamp under that top railing then get the next side over the railing....
