Posting new fishing reports has a few new options. I've included a nice spell checker that will actually check the spelling of our fishing lingo. Admins will be able to add words to the dictionary so common words like lunker, bobber, rapala.. etc.. will be checked for spelling. Also included in the new report form is the HotSpot tool that will allow you to place an icon on a Google map and/or enter actual GPS coordinates of where you had your best success. Over time these hotspots will start to show trends of where the really good spots are. Premium Members will be able to create lake maps that show all of the hotspots.

One of the new features that the new site will have is Blogs. Call it a Blog. Call it a Journal. Call it whatever you want. It's a place for you to post your own information about whatever you want. You will be in charge of the comments and photos.. it's your own mini forum.

Premium Members will also enjoy having their own Photo gallery. No more photobucket and their limited bandwidth. Uplaod photots to your gallery and then link to them from the forum. The text editor in the blog actually allows you to browse through your galleries and select photos to insert into your blog. I've also implemented a better upload tool so you an upload up to 20 photos at a time and it shows a progress bar as well.

Here's a sneak peak at the new Lake/River index. As you can see, you will no longer be limited to just Washington... we've added all the popular lakes, rivers and stream for Oregon and Idaho as well.

PMs (Private Messages) will take on a whole new meaning. Premium Members will have their own chat room where they can discuss whatever comes to mind. You'll also be able to see when one of your friends is online and start up a one on one chat with them in private.

And last, but certainly not least, is my favorite new addition. The HotSpot tools. This is an example of a HotSpot map that a Premium Member can view for each report that had HotSpots submitted. The HotSpot tool is still being worked on but this will give you an idea of what the final product might look like.

Im real excited about the "hotspots" addition. I like to go to new lakes, and always wonder where a good spot to fish is and this will solve my problem. Im sure the update will be worth every penny plus some.

:-k Would like to see some ads and revenue coming in from local businesses like Cabellas, Joes, Sportco etc. We spend a lot of money at their establishments...Fishing and hunting news should give us a break on subscriptions. In fact I got a 2 year sub for F&H news thru ebay and only cost $23.00...Maybe we could get a break like that...By getting something back we will break even on the yearly rates..... We could do a test of new gear or baits for local Washington Companies. Fishing derbies are a Fantastic idea.... Get donations from companies... Kids derby and dock derby Trout, Bass, Salmon.etc.... We really have a lot to offer and shouldn't let it pass us by. Only a suggestion....Something to think about:-k

Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Finding sponsors could be a fulltime job all by itself. Neither Aaron nor I are salesmen and are out of our element trying to sell to potential advertisers. We've have had some success over the years. Also, we both work fulltime, both have families - there's only so much a guy can do. :shaking2:

BTW, I think Aaron didn't mention a couple cool features for premium members - Alerts and Statistics.

Alerts will send you notification when something gets posted you are interested in, say a report on a particular lake.

Statistics are generated using the last 12 years of reports to give you focused data, for example, which lake in a 50 mile radius from my home has been the most hot fishing in the month of May?

No other site that I am aware of has such an exhaustive database to draw from. Thanks to all the readers that post fishing reports!

That should be very useful.
