Salmon Creek/pond in clark county

Anyone fish this body of water for trout or anything? Drive past everyday to work and it looks really promising. Anyone?

both are good fisheries, if you want to catch a mess of stocker trout and dont mind bumping elbows with the hundreds of russian regulars it is a great spot! salmon creek is good for steelhead if ya know what you are doing.

use a yellow powerworm or a fly behind a bobber for best results.

Salmon Creek has a bunch of bass in it, too, since the eastern lake blew out during the '96 floods.

In the creek or pond? I only know of two spots that may have access. Is the pond across the road from klinline good or what? I have alot of questions. Sorry. Or can someone send me a link of the area or something?

there is acually 2 KLINELINE ponds one is stocked with trout and the other is great for bass, bluegill, and carp. i prefer the bass pond because nobody fishes it.

I assume you are talking about the pond across the park from K pond. I have never gotten a bite there. I am sure it is technique because I have heard of others catching bass there.

What about the water you see under the bridge as you approach the entrance to the park. Not the creek under the walking bridge, but the pond on the other side of I-5. Is that worth the walk? Have you fished it?

I'm talking about the one to the left. Those two look really promising. Bobber and worm? Pick up some some warmwater fish.

what kind of bass do you catch out of salmon creek and where cavdad45?

The pond to the east of I-5 used to be a lake before the floods of '96. Since then it is a flow-through of Salmon Creek and in summer is just a big bend in the creek, barely resembling a lake. When the water gets warm, usually after June, you can wade from the old washed out lake well pass the Klineline proper, to the ball fields. The bass are smallish rarely exceeding a couple pounds, most are much smaller in the 9-10 inch range. They are largemouth descendants from the old pond. Small spinners and cranks are the tool of choice, and you might even catch a cutthroat or two along the way.

The Big pond at Klineline doesn't suit me at all for bassing because of the no boat policy. Too much good water that is simply out of reach. It's okay for kids catching stocker trout and an occassional brooder, but I don't find it that personally rewarding to chase stocker fish.

The little pond in the corner that Max talkes alot about used to be a killer bass and crappie pond, but has been in constant decline as the vegetation continues to get worse year to year. Rarely see crappie there any more, but bass up to 5 pounds live there. Fish it early in the season before the weeds choke it out for your best opportunity at a fish over two pounds.

yea that pond you are seeing is not there year round. it is just salmon creek when it is flooded. sure you can wade to get a few small bass or you can walk 50 feet from klineline pond and get some real good bass fishing. your choice.


and like cavdad said go early in the year before the weeds put a stop to the bigger bass fishing, all you will catch with the weeds are bass about half pound to about a pound.

The pond on the east side of the freeway produces some of the biggest bluegil I've ever caught. Try fishing there in the early summer a couple of hours before dusk and you will see what I meen. there is lots of bank access. I'm not sure why you would have to wade through it because there is lots of bank access

Thanks for the tip on the bluegill. They are a tasty treat, both catching and eating.
This is about the closest piece of water to my house and I will def-a-nut-ly be there this summer after work a few times.
