I have fished alot for Macks and we've caught a 20#er before. In the winter and early spring you can catch them all day in 20 - 120 feet of water. They stack up in an area so when you find a good spot go back through them again. Later in the spring as the water warms up, the Macks will go to deeper water - 100' or >. They also go to deeper water as the day warms up.
I find that the bigger ones, 5#s and up, are good on the BBQ because they have been eating kokanee. < 5#s have been eating shrimp and taste terrible.
The picture shows several partly digested kokanee swallowed by that monster Mackinaw. These fish can grow to over 90#s.
Check out this article for more information on Mackinaw.
