I will be looking at some property on Big Lake this weekend. Some pictures of the lake that I was able to view showed the water color to be pretty green.
Several Washington Lakes reports mentioned algae blooms. The info paragraph also indicated that there might be some trout in the lake. I know in the past some nice largemouth bass have been caught in the lake.
I did notice that the maximum depth was about 25' and the average depth was about 14'. With the warm summers that we have been experiencing I would have to assume the water temperature is high in the summer.
Anyone have first hand knowledge regarding how the fish have been fairing in the hot water?

Re: water temperatures in Big Lake
Big lake has a long history of great fishing. Recently it's off and on though. Growing up in the area Big lake has been a lake I frequent. My kids and I would crappie fish there and somedays catch 150 crappie (keeping only enough for a meal). My personal best bass is 7#'s. And if you dig far into the past you will find trout being caught in the 5#'s -8# range. Yes algae blooms happen, yes turn overs also play into the fishing. I don't feel the water is any warmer than other lakes in the area. Good luck in your purchase. I too almost called Big Lake my home.
