fish Westport pier

Post by opus23 » Thu Mar 24, 2016 3:34 pm

I wanted to take my father out fishing and for health reasons we can not go out on a boat. Is there anything to be caught off of Westports fishing pier. I have gotten crab there in the past.

There are kelp greenling, black sea bass at times and usually crab.

Pretty rocky though, bring lots of gear

Where in Westport piers can you fish? From the piers? Or the breakwaters to the harbor? I've done it from the jetties when it's relatively dry and calm.

The Westport boat basin is a public port - so you can crab / fish off of most of the floats, unless posted.

I'm pretty sure that OP is inquiring about Fisherman's Boardwalk, which extends out beyond the last float - #20 I think.

Lots of small greenling and seabass. Use sandshrimp or nightcrawlers. Watch out for mud sharks, there are a bunch of them.

Re: fish Westport pier Car Pool to Westport?

Post by Let's_Go_Fishing! » Wed Apr 13, 2016 12:48 am

Question: are there any responsible fishers from Snohomish county receptive to car pooling a day outing to Westport? We are 2 people willing to chip in reasonably. Not into drama. Clean background (you too). Please be okay with respectful smokers. We have all gear and licenses.

caught a couple greenling off pier 20 last week. saw the gulls picking at a huge dead pile perch at low tide on that sandy beach by the outer part of the pier. many people catching small crabs. never seen anyone fishing the other piers though i've seen the signs saying they are open during daylight hours. will be out in the morning again.

We're still looking for someone responsible (from Snoco or Skagit county) to fish Westport with. Can chip in on carpooling and snacks.
