RE:Ice off??
It's very rare when these lakes are froze up past March 1st.
RE:Ice off??
I know last year they were worried about the Quincy March 1st trout opener. The laskes were ice free except for 1 lake. But even then the lake was still only half way covered.

RE:Ice off??
That's a hard call. I've fished Amber on the 1st of March before when there was still a thin crust of ice about a foot out from the rocks around the shore. It shouldn't be thick at all though. March 1 should be OK I'm guessing.
Where you go is less important than how you get there.

Last year I was on Moses Lake March 3rd and it looked like the ice had been off for awhile. And when I drove by Sprague Lake it was still froze solid. I just want to get out as soon as the ice is off.

Just keep saying, "Global Warming, Global Warming......."
Usually the central lakes are cleared out by then. They get more wind than the eastern lakes. That helps in getting the ice off.

Keep an eye on the temperature once the temp starts to stay above freezing at night it will only take a couple of weeks. The ice never really gets that thick here in Washington. We are lucky at least here in Central Washington if the ice ever reaches 12 inches thick.

The ice fishing on Sprague is a little slow right now.Deadeye wrote:Last year I was on Moses Lake March 3rd and it looked like the ice had been off for awhile. And when I drove by Sprague Lake it was still froze solid. I just want to get out as soon as the ice is off.
