Lake Garrett and Arbor Lake in King County

Hi all,

It's been a while since I last logged on (holidays, work, etc...) hope everyone is well. Has anyone heard of either Lake Garrett or Arbor Lake? Both are in King County in the Burien area. I saw them on Google maps the other day, and was wondering if there are any fish in them. There does not appear to be anything on the WDFW site about either. Any information would be appreciated.

yes there are fish in arbor lake theres lots of perch and a few bass and catfish and a few trout iam not sure if there safe to eat becuse of problems with pollution and hicks has some fish in it i have only fish at hicks a few times but i have fish at arbor for the past 20years or so i have herd of some people eating the fish out of arbor and supostly there fine as long as there clean correctly the health depart says they have no info on the fish i try connacting every resocre i chould think of for info on the fish in arbor and can't get anywere with any of them health dept,wdfw they all have no info or they don't reply but arbor is a nice little lake seems to be a little cleaner then hicks and a little less crime at arbor and arbor was stock with trout in 1998 and in 1999

I checked out Arbor lake last year. The only fish that I saw were largemouth bass. Mostly minnow sized ones and one 12 incher. I tried a bottom rig for perch and pulled up tons of weeds. The water look pretty clear from shore.

Lake Garret AKA Hicks Lake used to be planted with trout until the late eighties with a few hundred trout planted a couple of times each year.Last time I fished there was early 80's and at that time the lake contained trout,sunfish,bass and the mighty fighting goldfish.The lake is fed by a few ponds to the north,a small lake in White Center,which in turn is fed by drainage ponds( used to be a swamp).I remember swimming there as a little kid and playing tag with dead trout and snails(lots of them back then).One curious thing about the lake is it is rumored to be very deep 90+ ft with an underground outlet to the sound.Rumor had it that a person drowned in the lake but the body could not be found by divers because of the depth and the murkiness of the water.A couple of weeks later the body was recoverd a few miles away in Puget Sound.

yeah the perch usly bite if you use a bobber and a little salmon egg hook with piace of night crawler put the hook about a foot to a foot and a half from the bobber it can be go fishing on a sunny day but slow when the clouds are out cast out about any where from 5 to 20 feet out and you should get something if you don't try moving a few feet to the left or right they should bite with in a min or 2 lately on the past sunny day last weekend a saw about 20 to 100 of the perch swimming around and biteing to and a few bass swimming around the bass tend to like plastic worms and jigs even a roster tail

Thanks for all the information everyone. Arbor might be a good spot to hit up in a float tube. Mike, or anyone else, if you are interested in checking either lake out soon, let me know two (or more) anglers can usually find a patter faster, and I always enjoy getting to know/fish with people on WL.
