Although late march-early april is not exactly known for producing large wild steelhead, the numbers certainly make up for that. Each rain has encouraged large pushes of fresh sea lice covered steelhead to flood in from the tide water. Last week we had three 12 fish days in a row, all 3 days were warm sunny spring t-shirt days and most fish had sealice... Two more weeks of chasing chrome [thumbsup]

I think I am gonna skip cascade this summer, gonna try for more summer runs instead, much easier haha getting those springers to bite is hard, might try barrier or forks but that's it. magic date for me is june 1st, just gotta pick a place to fish now haha. oh plus the fish were spitting eggs even for how chrome they were, really weird oh well they still had good meat, smoking them up tomorrow.

The hatchery steelhead season was so depressing I barely even targeted them. I started going for Wilds in december... I figured if im only gonna catch one freaking fish a day, might as well be a nice native and not a hatchery turd... For the few times i went I could barely scratch out a couple. I think i went to the cascade 3 times and hooked like 5 or so... Which is depressing. Nobody really knows what happened to them... But its been worse and worse for a few years now. And with this lawsuit now you may as well just write off puget sound hatchery steelhead as a lost cause. Woohoo!

heck at least last season there were fish in the river in December and big ones but this past year I went what is normally prime time and only saw 1 hooked up, poor would have been a understatement, I heard fortson wasn't really putting out very many fish either, I saw one caught and my dad lost one when I was there. might have to move operation to the coast now especially with this lawsuit. maybe it might bring the A-runs on the Cowlitz back though
