Fly Fishing Lake Alice in Fall City in December
Has anyone fished Lake Alice in the winter months for trout. It is a year-round lake and I was thinking of hitting it up with my fly gear - wooley buggers, and various bead-headed nymphs. What do you think? I thought of trolling wooley buggers on a sink tip line -- Anyone done this or would want to go out and give this a try with me? Either that or lake Sammamish or lake Washington cutts, which are getting huge right now...something about fly fishing the wet nymph in winter...let me know.

Rutt, have you ever been to the lake? I went there once on my way home from potholes earlier this year. I have heard there is a few diffrent types of trout in there. Bows, browns, brooks and cutts. Is this true? I know they plant bows. But anyway when we were there it was nothing but fly guys on pontoons. We only got to shore fish from the launch and only fished for about an hour, more just checking out a new lake. But we walked away empty handed.

Try posting this in the fly fishing section. You might get a better response.
My thoughts, I am not a purist. I may fish all year with just a fly, than next year, I might not even pick up my fly rod. Most often I fish a little with all of my tools, depending on what I am doing.
That said, if you can catch the fish in a lake with other methods, the fly will work as well. I use to say that if I HAD TO LIVE OFF WHAT I CAUGHT, I use only my fly rod.

Too much water, so many fish, too little time.

Fishing Alice in the winter is probably worth a try. Last March or early April I fished it right after it was stocked and a resident told me that the fishing for hold-overs was really hot in early March.

I fathom it would be. I never got into the hold overs, but literally every cast produced at 10" stocker. It's a great little lake when stocked, but man does it get fished out fast...either that or a combination of early fishing pressure and warm temperatures encroaching in early spring.ral wrote:Fishing Alice in the winter is probably worth a try.
