Not a problem Spoon! I'm probably older, not necessarily wiser, just older.... Information tends to stick like a refrigerator magnet. Some stay on others fall off!

The treaty was written to keep the peace and bring us together "IN COMMON". Boldt further separated us.

Boldt was married to a "Native American", can you say conflict of interest?

Hhmmm, funny, when you challenged me on my statement I looked it up and a couple articles backed you up 100% spoonman. Basically said Boldt ruled based on the 1855 treaty and granted 50% per that treaty, guess the articles were wrong too! But I have to admit, if I was right, it's a happy coincidence as I had not done the research, just don't agree with the 50% and that was the fuel behind my statement, not actual knowledge of the legal precedents.
In subsequent legal interpretations of the 1855 treaty prior to the Boldt decision the 50% figure could've emerged so there is still the chance Judge Boldt did not pull that # from his derriere. Frankly not going to research it further cuz it doesn't matter, it is what it is for now. I don't even know how someone would get legal standing to challenge the Boldt decision and force a court to hear a complaint. That'd be task #1 if someone were serious about attacking that decision in court. Well I'm not a lawyer so I should say I think "that'd be task #1" to get the process started. Without legal standing I'd bet most courts toss the complaint to avoid that can of worms.
That and fund raising, a lot of fund raising and then more fund raising as some of our NW Indian tribes are well heeled and it'd be a bitter, long and costly legal battle. Good luck, let me know where to donate when a brave soul figures out how to get a legal challenge going!

I happily donate to the cause, and ya we would need a brave soul to fight it.

Was just out on the Skok yesterday and they had a net pen set up. Guy came down to the river, loaded up his boat with fish, went about 50 yards down river, dropped anchor by the bank and started chucking anything that wasn't a Coho back into the river.....DEAD.

By the time I had my phone ready to start recording, he was done. It pissed me off. If you're gonna kill the fish, then use it. He was blatantly dumping dead fish back into the river because they weren't Silvers.

I either didn't know or I forgot about that element of the formula... I do recall that just a few years after his ruling, he was diagnosed with dementia or some such mental debilitating illness..... Seems that is when the stronger commercial lobby should have pounced on his ruling..... Oh hell, I better hit up google, see if the Supreme Court got involved.... before going any further.... ](*,) :poop:

I already hate that guy and I have never met him [cursing] .... can you imagine a couple of dedicated guys sneaking around with go pro cameras filming this kind of behavior and up loading to you tube and giving to local news. I really believe washingtonions are very nature friendly and a huge stink would follow. I still believe in people power and with social media the results can be devastating and maybe something would start to turn on the wheels of change.

The Supreme Court has been involved since Boldts decision...
I read a bunch of the summary and find it to be a bunch of crap...

I think this was also the era of the crying commercial on TV.....

I'd hate to see such an informative thread as this get locked as well. I mean threatening Juvenile Native fishers in the way that some have suggested here is something I've never thought about. At least I am learning a few things from you guys. I mean yeah, it's mostly harassment and threats towards a Native, so I guess it's OK. Just be sure to keep it civil as we continue on with this Racist Bigotry. You know, maybe mention the kids Parents and Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Ancestors to be sure to keep it Family Friendly.

Anyhow, want to keep it short and look forward to fishing with some of you in the near future.

Locking sounds like a good idea to me. Putting this one to bed.
