upper skagit and/or cascade river

Post by fishindude » Wed Nov 06, 2013 8:06 pm

Thinking about heading out Sunday to the upper skagit and/or Cascade river for some coho. Has anyone been out there lately and is it worth going? If I do the Skagit, I was thinking about putting the boat in at Rockport and fart around since this would be my first time boating up there. Of course, I don't want to haul the boat out there for no reason so maybe just bank fish the cascade? Heck, I don't know. What do you think? Thanks!

I fished the Cascade on Monday. Each hole I hit was filled with Fish... Saw a few Chrome but got my limits with blushed up fish. They are there and with rain due today and tomorrow I would say more fresher fish should be showing up.

There just waiting for some rain and were getting it. There should be plenty of fish pushing in and shooting up. Does not really matter where you go, I know with this rain there should be a good amount of chromers from lyman down to the mouth

if the water goes up with some rain you can bet there will be a lot of chrome fish in there that were sitting by the mouth, plus you might tie into some early winter steelhead.

That would be great to get my first Steelhead up there. I'm hoping this season is the one for me!

it was were I got my first, mid December to early January it will happen as long as there is a decent return. Last year they were huge but not great numbers unlike the year before there were a ton of cookie cutter 5-7lbers.

Lots of dark fish was all. Ended up keeping one that was blushed up some, by the end of the day it turned even darker. Will smoke her up and got some eggs from her so not a total loss.

I had no luck with silvers today dark or bright! Started in Burlington and had no luck, then headed way up to rockport area at swift creek. No silver there either but hooked in to some big old chummers. There was around 6 other guys there and everything that was caught were chums. It was fun to tug on some big fish, but wished I could've got something to take home. Thinking about staying close to home for once and trying the nooksack for some chums I can keep! Who knows...maybe ill head back up again next week to try my luck. Hoping I can land my first steelhead!
