Im not sure who has what, But if I was to guess, both are Summer run steelys. I remember Derrick putting that pick on some while ago, So I dont think its a Winter run. Not sure though, could be mistaken.
If in doubt set the hook!

Big triploid out of Beaver lake in the middle of February two years ago. That was a big fish. Released though for someone else to enjoy it. I didn't measure it or weigh it, I'd estimate somewhere near 6-7 lbs....

Rufus is one of the best fisheries this time of year. Best fished by boat though...

on saturday i went out on the lewis, in the snow, and hooked a small winter run steely maybe 4lbs and lost it right after the hook set, i felt it hit then saw its flash of silver as it turned then snap my line comes flying out of the water. since my lure broke off i am pretty sure it was line failure. after tying on a new lure and casting a couple times i noticed that my drag was very tight so when the fish turned it snapped, and figured that might be the problem. also it could have been my knot but i am not sure. ended the day with no fish. but i was using 12lb test, but there may have been a fray or somthing. so the morale of the story is, check your line for frays, and set your drag loose enough to let the fish take some line if needed, and.....tie your knots right

In rocky rivers abrasion can take a huge toll on your line so check it often and buy the abrasion resistant line.

Maxima is REALY tough and if you buy the super-soft limp version it is good for spinning reels in 10lb, and 12lb for level wind. It lasts alot longer than other lines.

i am using 12lb VANISH which was a bad choice because when i bought it i was facinated that it "disapeared underwater" well i am going to switch before i hit the river again.

Maxima is super tough and lasts a while, but it's pretty thick and wirey...I've yet to see the super limp versions around, but I still buy UG leader in all lb tests and I have a few reels spooled with UG and it's on most of my backup spools...

Fluorocarbon makes GREAT leader, nothing can compare. But it makes terrible main line, too many line twists. I know from experience. Its a pretty expensive mistake, no fluorocarbon is cheap.

Idk about some of you, but I stick to STREN. Its tough when it needs to be and cuts easy enough when needing to retie. Bought 1000yds of 12lb test the other day at JOES for $8, I thought I got a great deal. Fished with it once so far and have had no frays or breaks. Last steely I caught was with 8lb STREN, so I know its Durable.

Vanish is horrible! All I have ever heard is horror stories with it, and my own experience is that it turns into 4# test after fishing it once. If Vanish was Pet food the FDA would take it off the market as lethal to fishing...
