Sockeye on the Skok
I heard from a buddy the other day, that soon there going to be trying to get a sockeye run on the Skokomish river, and will be transporting fish to Lake Cushman and have a similar situation like they do with Baker Lake. Anybody heard anything, or are people just BS'n ?

What happens if you get scared half to death twice?
Re: Sockeye on the Skok
there is a small run of riverine sockeye spawning somewhere in the river already. i've seen them with my own half blind eyes. one of the few rivers in the world they do that.

Re: Sockeye on the Skok
Oh sweet! Thanks for the info. I heard a rumor that there were already sockeye in there too. Ive seen one steelhead caught out of there, good to see there trying to get the steel back in the river.

I've been told steelhead fishing can be pretty good there by several people at brown creek I think it was.

Re: Sockeye on the Skok
Actually theres a lot of rivers that have small runs of river-spawning sockeye, the runs arent big but most rivers have some. For example, northfork nooksack, northfork stillaguamish and pilchuck creek to name a few all have decent sized sockeye runs with no lake to spawn in, i caught at least 10 sockeye fly fishing for steelhead on the stilly last week.obryan214 wrote:there is a small run of riverine sockeye spawning somewhere in the river already. i've seen them with my own half blind eyes. one of the few rivers in the world they do that.

Baby sockeye runs aren't the same as Lake Washington or Columbia sized runs. That's what we want on the Skok!

I caught a sockeye on pilchuck creek last year. I was confused what it was at first.fishenfreak wrote:Actually theres a lot of rivers that have small runs of river-spawning sockeye, the runs arent big but most rivers have some.
