Fishing creeks

I've always liked fishing little streams, and get over to my favorite ones (teanaway system) as often as I can, but id like to try some streams a little closer to home. Most of the ones I've looked up are in the lake washington or Sammamish system and are off limits to adults!

Size of fish doesn't matter, I'm just catching and releasing, and probably soaking a crayfish trap at the same time.

Any suggestions where to go to toss a spinner into the creek?

The Sammamish can he fun around downtown Redmond. Not off limits to adults.. I like the creeks to.. Wish there were more closer to me.. In Seattle.

hey kbf1961, before you start bashing you relize i wasent an ass to you on your other thread, i told you how it goes. if you would send me PM or even a forum message saying hey i live in Snohomish do you know any good creeks. i would say yeah of course, Onely Creek creek is amazing for little catch and release cutts, its between monroe and sultan under Spada Lake. i also am going to send a privite PM to Mord because he has helped me alot on the forums the last year and he is always on posting productive messages and no being a synical ass.

if your going to hit the samamish i do really good below the woodenvill playfields but before you go under 405. i have never fished the redmond end. i think next week i have some new water to scout out.

Both Pilchucks are great for cutts. The Sultan and Wallace are great small little rivers as well. Any of the forks of the big rivers are fun too. I'd start with the Pilchuck, nice little river. They aren't like the coastal streams though. There are tons of those that I grew up fishing, and loved it. Around here, if it's not listed in the regs, you can't fish it. It used to be you could look at a map, find a neat little creek, walk up it and look for the beaver ponds and catch tons of trout. It's not as fun now, just browse through the yellow section on your regs, that will let you know the watershed you're on i.e. distance from home, cross reference it with reports on here, then search the forum and google to find out what works. Then get out google maps satellite view and find a park, or a bridge close to a nice looking hole. If you still have questions after that, let me know and I'll give you the skinny Check out Goodman Creek on the coast, that's your mecca right there.

Thanks guys, yeah I've been seeing creeks on Google maps, but none of the names (if the are named) show up. Hard to check regs when you don't have a name of the dang thing.. I figure they just fall under "and all tributaries".

I'll have to check out the Sammamish near Redmond, I work right on the Sammamish in bothell, but down there it smells like goose crap and I rarely see a fish (until the sockeye run up it).

A few weekends ago I was pulling dollys, cutthroats and rainbows out of Stafford creek over by teanaway, it was a blast! Even though they were all in the 6 inch range.

A reason I'd like one closer to home, is that I don't always have time to gear up and head out to the Skykomish or Snohomish but have an hour or two to kill and now my kid is curious about fishing so it would be nice to bring him along and watch papa.

I grew up fishing small streams and creeks in Southern Oregon. Still love tackling them with ultra light gear when out camping or driving around. I found Skate creek has some decent fishing if you are willing to walk it, but thats a bit of a drive. There are some creeks near my father n laws on the other side of the bridge that are loaded with fish, but are not listed as open for fishing. Which sucks because a couple of them get absolutely stuffed with chums and silvers and have some killer looking holes in them. Perfect water for some jigs.

i am headed out Saturday to a creek up somewhere off of highway 20 that my grandpa used to fish in the 50's. He showed me a map and where its at. i am glad to see there are no roads to it anymore or if they are they will be gated. i will post some pictures of the trip, i love exploring new water and the veiws and wildlife that go along with it.

one thing i have noticed on the small creeks, if somebody else has hit the river in the morning before you or even the day before the fishing is always not as good. so take the time to explore your own "secrete" holes and runs, they will be worth the time invested. almost every piece of water has some kind of fish in it.

Mord- I saw the post about north creek! I love fishing that creek, tons of cutts in there! super fun on ultra light gear, i walk up it for about 3 miles, I saw alot of crawdads in there, My dad always gets jelouse because its closed to adults, Only if there were more of those creeks like that open to everyone!

Yeah, North creek is great! Over 2 days with one small trap and one 10 inch trout, I got probably 6 pounds or so. Pulled it out today and the trout was justa backbone, so not too bad! Will do a craw dad boil tonight, and maybe use some of the smaller 4 inch ones for bait on Sunday on the sky.

Sounds like there's some nice creeks around though, a little farther away from home, but not too bad!

Ya Eamon we gotta get out soon! North is super fun! Also upper swamp, i like being a kid so i can fish these haha! Olney creek looks pretty nice, i just looked at it one day and it had some nice holes!
