I fished it today. Saw you out there Kafelafish, kinda busy in the boat though. That was us in the red Harbercraft. We got skunked (??????????) and had to suffer through watching people take in three times their limit and wish that was us.

I fished it in my boat today as well. What worked for a group of gentlemen was powerbait off an anchor plunk. Many fish boated mid-way down the lake in about 45' of water. The fish are certainly spreading out, and although many fish can be picked up by trolling F-4/5 red flatfishes, the majority of fish were coming from powerbait off the bottom in 20-28' of water by the lagoon, and especially on the other side of the lake by the park. The people on the park were cussing at the boats that got "too close" to what they considered to be their casting distance area...pretty rude, but they have the right to cast long and deep too. I managed 3 nice bows with the largest at around 4 pounds. Anchor up, and plunk. I think next week I'll fly fish, as the fish seem to already be keying in on natural food sources (midges seemed to produce) at least for one fly angler that I talked to, and many bows were rising for chrominoids. I am going to avoid the zoo this weekend, but may try again on Monday or Tuesday of next week. The fish seem to be going fast (one boat caught nearly 20) and I think this fishery should "dry up" rather quick, so get out this weekend and have a blast with the kids, or get some fish for the good ol' smoker. :bounce:

Yeah, some people were. I caught 1 trolling with pop gear and a brass bikini needlefish. As Sam said, F4-5 Red Flatfish work great, and I had a hit on this combo. The fish seem to be deep, though. Surface water temp was 48.5F. I imagine the evening would be a great time to hit this lake up too. Lots of boats on the water to troll this weekend, but when the lanes clear, trolling can be very effective (looks like I-405 south at about 5pm on Beaver lol... Good luck!

Red powerbait dough, or yellow/light green chartreuse. Wedding rings weren't in action, at least I didn't see any, that's not to say they weren't used, though. 3/4 of the boats were plunking with powerbait. The fly guys did well with buggers too.

Its always better and easier to have an anchor for still fishing, but you can still catch a lot of trout drifting with your powerbait or power eggs. I have forgotten my anchor on plenty of fishing trips and had to fish this way. But on some fishing trips pulling up the anchor and just drifting with your still fishing setup will out fish staying in 1 place. It is a lot tougher to detect bites and a lot easier to get hung up. But with the size of the fish they put into beaver, I dont think you will have problems detecting the bites. But if worst comes to worst a 40' length of rope and a cinder block will do the trick.

Funny you should mention the anchor. I haven't had one in two years. Keep meaning to do so, but never get around to replacing it. Their have been more than a few trips that I wished I had one.

Eh, all the people I talked to said they were biting soft. I didn't put the anchor down and I was drifting towards my cast. I got a bite, then the fish swam towards me slowly. Freakin nightmare, had to wait what felt like an hour before I was sure it was a fish, compounded by watching those HUGE fish being caught.

Hey, me too. If I can find an open spot on the shore...

I"m thinking of getting there by 8AM. Hopefully, on the park site. At the point, where it's closet to the launch. I'll be in a black CarrHart with a black Seahawks hat.

But if it's already packed by then, might just head out to Black Lake.

Gettin there by 8am is late, the bank fishing in the park and boat launch will be crowded by then; I'll be there early on my pontoon unless I decide to take the boat out for some Blackmouths. Have fun out there guys.

MIGHT* head out tomorrow AM really early. 5:30 am alarm clock to do some fishing. Planning on fishing the park, but if it gets too crowded, I'll head out to the boat launch, although I don't like clogging up the launch cause it's a pain for me and the guys launching...

Will be catching and releasing all my fish so if anyone wants to, take mine...

Will be wearing either a big green coat or a black fleece...
