I have both the red and white lamis and like both. The white lami is a little long and can be difficult to manage in a 12' boat at times so i prefer the red lami b/c of that. In a larger boat i'd go with the white lami everyday. There's a brown, basic lami kokanee downrigger rod that's only 7' and great for smaller boats as well.
At $54.88 can't go wrong, will try to resist but will probably end up with a spare/backup red lami.

I did not read all the posts so not sure if someone chimed in on this brand. Picked up 2 Crystal Basin Tackle KC802UL Kufa rods from Kokanee Tackle, one for me and one for dad. They are very limber 8' rods that are a blast to fish with. Might be a little soft for Sockeye but great for trout and kokanee. We used them for walleye on Rufus Woods and did just fine. Dad caught about a 6lb triploid and bent the rod clear to the butt, just from the weight of the fish, not much of a fighter. Paid $79 plus shipping and worth every penny. After watching Mikes video on Chelan, chomping at the bit to go try them on the jumbo kokes up there, maybe Sunday if the wind does not howl.

I have put thought into this and think a longer rod is nice even in a small boat you can tip the rod behind you towards your back like a cast thus making you use the rods bend more to absorb the fight of this fish. Just a thought and little note.

Fair enough, as i use it more it'll probably get better. Fishing Meridian it was the only rod that landed kokes. It's just a bit more combersome to lay down to change gear or bait and get the line to put in the downrigger clip but workable. I'll still be using it.

Jd39 it dose take some getting use to. I just wanted to add it as a pointer in using the flex of the rod (lake a better term) to add more of a spring like action verses being stiff. These are things that I never thought of but had other friends point it out to me. Helped me get more fish in the boat.

Can you order them online? i couldnt find them?? I hate seattle so even for a deal thats not going to happen. I was actually going to just go buy one tomorrow for the 80 something they normally are.
