Get yourself some Kramer tackle pink worms and jigs. They flat out catch fish.

Like the others said, don't forget pink worms. They work great out there. Most standard steelhead gear will work, just make sure to try different things. Also, I would actually recommend fishing the Duc instead of the Hoh or at least fish it for a few hours, easier access, and more fish right now. Just my opinion,but I just prefer the sol duc. Both rivers have been below average this year though. So expect it to be a little slow. One last thing, which ever river you decide to fish, I would fish the upper section of the river. It's late in the season and there should be more fish in the upper.

Bring your spoons too. Big spoons and spinner will draw out the aggressive fish and it's a hoot when they slam it! If you really want to catch a bunch of fish, give me a call, there's a lot of water out there to learn!

I've got more pink worms than I know what to do with at this point...and rigged more ways than I ever thought possible. We've got plenty of BC spoons, lots of yarn balls, fresh roe from my weekend on the Cow and of course every jig color combo known to man.
The only reason we're targeting the Hoh is because from what I've read it has the best bank access of any OP river. I also heard the Sol Duc has hardly any bank access...so now I don't know what to think. Our plan is to basically walk the river(which ever we decide on) so bank access is our number 1 priority...over catching monster native steel of course.

Nate-Appreciate the offer and we'll definitely need your help in the future, but for now I think we'll be "angling on a budget". The trip over from Ballard is already costing my fishing partner and I a pretty penny.

Although I haven't fished the Hoh often, it has very limited bank access unless you know exactly where you are going, or if you want to do ALOT of hiking. I've fished alot of spots on the Hoh but it's pretty hard to fish most places without a driftboat. It's also pretty tough to just walk up and down the river.
I fish the Sol Duc quite a bit, and I personally think it has more bank access Or at least more places you can just walk down to. There's also less people on the sol duc. I've never really had an issue with bank access on the Duc, and with it being later in the season there would probably be fish around the salmon hatchery(Behind the fish tanks, and above and below where the hatchery creek dumps into the river) and up by Snyder creek. Just saying, I'd at least give the sol duc a try. I say the Sol duc is one river you shouldn't go with out at least fishing it once. I also think it's a nicer river than the Hoh but that's just me. I've always kinda found the Hoh to be un-impressive.
