Re: Ultra Green OR Fluorocarbon
Cannot really do much comparison on line types/brands/colors/#-rating etc, as I am still relatively new to fishing for something bigger than trout in these rivers around here, but I will say this;
After reading LOTS of threads here (and elsewhere) on the subject, I went with 12# UG for mainline and running 10# UG for leader (going to pick up a spool of 8# this weekend, too). In the last few trips out, I've gotten jigs stuck in branches and underwater a dozen times or so. I've only lost one jig, and that was due to a knot break at the jig. All the rest of those snags, the jig broke at the bend in the hook (twice), or the hook just plain bent.
With that, I'm sold on UG.

Although I have not had much problems with the 10# Pline fluoro I've been using for leader, I am about out. With all the rave for UG, I figured I'd give it a shot, so picked up a spool of 10# UG tonight. Will see if it lasts longer or preserves a few more jigs.

Brat Bonker. When you say your targeting chehalis fish I assume you mean the skookumchuck. I run 12lb in the skook the water is really dirty you could even use 15lb if you wanted too. Skook also has really big fish so it's not a bad idea either.

no I mean nooch, skook, and satsop. I use 10lb mono as leaders for skook fish, they don't seem to care. I fish the satsop a lot since I live the closer to it than the other rivers.Kockmandoo wrote:Brat Bonker. When you say your targeting chehalis fish I assume you mean the skookumchuck. Ultragreen works. I've been using the stuff for over forty years and have landed fish up to 42lbs on 10lb test. You can pull a truck with that stuff.

haha sweet maybe I can drag some of those pesky snags out of the river haha. Already caught one on the UG, glad I had it too, grabbed my leader and it took another run and did not snap like flouro would.
Re: Ultra Green OR Fluorocarbon
That's cause you were fishing 6lb flouro brat haha.
